Overview:
Under the supervision of the Family and Community Partnership Manager, develops and oversees social service activities, makes contact with community resources and partners, and ensures quality service to families. Works closely with parents, staff and community to implement Head Start and other program objectives and activities.
Key areas of responsibility
1. Assist with all aspects of the family partnerships component area in accordance with the Head Start Act, Head Start Performance Standards and best practices in family services.
2. Provide oversight, training, mentoring, and technical expertise to family service specialists in implementing the family services program in accordance with parent and program activities.
3. Conduct site visits as needed to perform observations, conduct file and case reviews, provide ongoing monitoring, and provide reports/recommendations to the management team.
4. Establish and implement Eligibility, Recruitment, Selection, Enrollment and Attendance (ERSEA) criteria and ensure that enrollment goals are met assisting with active enrollment when necessary.
5. Ensure the policy councils (PC) and parent center committees (PCC) are organized, trained, and functioning.
6. Provide technical assistance to center staff to ensure that applicable community resources and organizations are identified and utilized to meet the needs and goals of the families.
7. Assist in developing and maintaining effective fatherhood initiative programs.
8. Ensure centers are working towards in-kind goals, training staff and parents as needed.
9. Manage the agency\xe2\x80\x99s community partnership and collaboration efforts in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards.
10. Collaborate with other component area managers to establish partnerships with health and nutrition services, education services, transportation services, disabilities services, family support services, child protective services, schools, child care providers, and other resources needed by families. family community partnerships specialist march 2023
11. Assist with research and development of workshops and basic education consistent with Head Start families\xe2\x80\x99 needs assessment.
12. Conduct home visits with family service staff annually and regularly attend the Policy Council and Parent Center Committee meetings.
13. Serve as liaison for local, state, and national volunteer organizations and/or events.
14. Perform other duties as assigned by the ERSEA Director and Area Manager.
Qualifications:
Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Social Work or a related field is strongly preferred. At a minimum, the applicant must be willing to obtain a Family Development Credential within 12 months of hire.
Bilingual Spanish-English strongly preferred.
Physical requirements include extended periods of time sitting or standing, ability to lift 50 lbs., ability to stoop, bend, and perform other actions commonly associated with caring for young children and infants and visiting families.
