  • Serves as the subject matter expert for the SSU promotions, laterals, and demotions. Evaluates, interprets, and implements personnel rules and procedures relating to SSU promotions, laterals and demotions process and ensures that Institutions, Community Corrections, and area staff are provided with up-to-date information on all changes. Enforces the criteria specified in the Union Contracts, regarding SSU.
  • Manages the Security Services Unit (SSU) promotional process to include, but not limited to, advertising vacancies in People First, prescreening applicants, developing scoresheets and interview lists, sending interview questions and grading scores, and approving interview panel.
  • Initiates and completes Personnel Action Requests (PAR) for the SSU promotions and demotions.
  • Responsible for resolving problems regarding application submission to People First, application review process, data tracking/collection, etc. and providing technical assistance.
  • Assists in the development of training in the areas of SSU Promotional Process, and provides training as required.
  • Develops and implements personnel policies and procedures for the Department as assigned.
  • Utilizes various computer programs used by the Department of Corrections, including but not limited to People First, Internet, Impromptu, ATMS, and various word processing, database, and spreadsheet applications. Compiles and maintains reports relating to SSU promotions and recruitment activities, as assigned.
  • Maintains an extensive filing system of electronic records, copies and redacts files as required in response to public records requests, and archives and destroys files according to retention schedules.
  • Completes training timely and as required.
  • Performs other duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of one or more personnel program function such as recruitment and selection, employee relations, etc.
  • Knowledge of computer software including applications.
  • Ability to direct and organize program activities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to analyze situations and recommend alternative solutions.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least one (1) year of professional human resources, administrative, or clerical experience.
