Job Description


This position will serve as the Finance Coordinator for Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Lewis County and will provide administrative direction, management and coordination for all Finance functions for the Lewis County Extension office. This position performs a moderate amount of highly complex tasks to support the Association, within the Finance area. This position will work closely with the SBN Finance Lead to ensure that all best practice recommendations are implemented in accordance with established timeframes. This position will reach out to the SBN Finance Lead for assistance and troubleshooting, as needed. This position will perform job duties with a high level of initiative and discretion, while maintaining a high level of confidentiality. This position will also provide high level support to the Board of Directors and the Executive Director in the Finance area as identified. This position will create and monitor Finance reports that may be sensitive in nature and related to established policies and procedures in support of the Association.

POSITION DETAILS:

This position is a part-time non-exempt position - 20 hours per week. The hourly rate for this position is $25.00. This position, based on eligibility, offers a comprehensive benefit package, to include: health and dental insurance, retirement, vacation, sick and personal leave.

POSITION INFORMATION:

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate\xe2\x80\x99s Degree or Equivalent Education (GED/High School Diploma and one (1) year transferrable program/functional experience).
  • College level accounting courses.
  • Demonstrated strong accounting, bookkeeping and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn updates and new financial systems, procedures and best practices.
  • Experience relevant to the role of the position.
  • Valid New York State Driver\xe2\x80\x99s License and the ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
  • Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Administrative Responsibilities:

Direction - 10%
  • With moderate initiative and discretion, assist in planning for delegated and assigned financial functions for the Association.
  • Assist with planning for Association\xe2\x80\x99s expenses/budgets.
With moderate initiative and discretion, assist in providing administrative direction for all Association Finance responsibilities.

Management - 20%
  • Communicate with the Finance SBN Lead regarding questions, issues and/or troubleshooting in all areas of Finance as appropriate.
  • With moderate initiative and discretion, provide administrative management for all Association Finance responsibilities.
  • Assist with guiding the administration of the overall Associations expenses.
  • Ensure compliance with all minimum operating standards in the Finance area per established protocol.
Coordination/Operation - 65%
  • Assist staff in day-to-day coordination of business Finance activities.
  • Follow standard operating procedures for efficient business operations in the Finance area.
  • With moderate initiative and discretion, perform a moderate amount of complex tasks to support the administration of the Association Finance Department.
  • Perform a variety of Finance functions including, but not limited to:
  • Prepare and execute budgets.
  • Process accounts payable vouchers and check payments.
  • Process accounts receivable billing and collect revenues.
  • Reconcile bank statements.
  • Perform required processes for month-end and year-end closing as necessary.
  • Prepare financial statements and reports for the Finance Committee and Board of Directors as necessary.
  • Implement established best practices and procedures in Finance based on direction from the Executive Director and/or SBN Finance Lead.
  • Provide administrative support for regional Finance functions including, but not limited to:
  • Attend Regional Finance trainings provided by the SBN Finance Lead.
  • Reach out to SBN Finance Lead as needed for information technology troubleshooting and support.
  • Maintain Association Finance files as needed.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality in all position responsibilities.
  • Effectively maintain professional relationships with other agencies, organizations and businesses that promote effective communication and facilitate continued programming efforts.
  • This position may require the transport of program materials and resources in performing position responsibilities.
Professional Improvement and Other Duties as Assigned - 5%
  • In cooperation with Supervisor and/or Executive Director, jointly develop and pursue a professional development plan as a means to increase competencies relative to position accountabilities and to address changes in programming and association priorities.
  • Collaborate in activities that are in general support of Cornell Cooperative Extension including but not limited to attendance at staff meetings, timely reporting of expenses, working with other staff, general marketing of Extension programs and other duties as assigned.

  • Support the association to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Be familiar and strive to follow any applicable federal, state, local regulations, association health and safety policy/procedure/requirement and standard.
