JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Science BS/MBA accelerated joint degree program is seeking a qualified graduate student, with preference given to those in the Smeal MBA or Finance Masters Programs, to assist in updating the Finance Module for SC 306W/306, a two-credit Spring Seminar Course for BS/MBA undergraduate students. The primary goal of the course is to provide an opportunity for BS/MBA students to become familiar with key business concepts that will be useful for Co-ops, Internships and the Smeal MBA itself.
Course Modules includethe following:
Finance
Leadership and Organizational Behavior
Marketing
Supply Chain Management
Project Management
The Finance Module will address about a quarter of the total course content and the content will be covered over about one month of course time. Primary responsibilities for the position include:
1.) Review existing course materials with an goal to make sure that the content is current, given changes in the financial industry practices and legal framework, and that the content adequately covers key current financial concepts
2.) Augment the content with relevant materials covered in Smeal master level finance courses
3.) Identifying materials for self-study from available sources including Harvard Business Publishing cases and simulations, on-line resources (e.g., MOOCs, YouTube), journal articles (e.g., HBR, McKinsey, Deloitte), the Penn State Library, and other resources
4.) Review the quizzes associated with the Finance Module to assure that the learning areas that are addressed are properly covered in quiz question content. Related work experience is a plus and applicants must have taken relevant courses in the Finance Discipline.
