SUMMARY: Provides prompt, courteous and personalized food and beverage service to every guest who dines in restaurant. Takes and serves guests their food and beverage orders.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Greets guests in a friendly and courteous manner and ensures each guest has a dinning room menu. 2. Ensures that orders are taken and delivered quickly, accurately and efficiently. 3. Familiarizes self with all items on printed menu and obtaining knowledge of all daily special items. 4. Uses good salesmanship for suggestive selling of menu items, beverages, deserts, etc. 5. Maintains a clean and well-stocked workstation in accordance with established health and safety guidelines. 6. Returns to each assigned table periodically to ascertain whether additional items or service is desired. 7. Other duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Assists Bus persons in a cooperative manner to ensure efficient service to guests. 2. Completes side work as directed.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS 1. Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma. Must have legible handwriting. 2. Visibility requires maintaining a professional appearance and providing a positive company image to the public. 3. Work may include weekends, nights, and holidays. 4. Must be able to carry and balance service tray on shoulder. Ability to lift and carry large, heavy banquet and beverage trays weighing up to 30 pounds. 5. Two years waitperson experience preferred. 6. Must be 21 years of age and be able to obtain all local, state and federal regulatory permits as required by position.
WORKING CONDITIONS Must be able to tolerate areas containing secondary smoke and high noise levels. Must work calmly and under stress when the volume of business increases. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
