Position: Food Pantry Coordinator

Position Summary:

The Food Pantry Coordinator plays a critical role in the daily operations of SBSC's food pantry, ensuring smooth, efficient, and safe functioning. This is a moderately physical position that requires frequent lifting and moving of items up to 50 lbs.

Key Responsibilities:


Food Pantry Operations:


Heavy Lifting & Logistics:

Oversee the receiving, loading, unloading, and movement of pallets of food. Ensure efficient stocking and restocking of inventory. The role demands consistent physical movement, including getting up and down from trucks with ease, and the ability to drive to various distribution locations based on need.

Stock Management:

Ensure the pantry is well-stocked, with proper inventory rotation, and that guidelines from Second Harvest and USDA are strictly followed.

Donation Handling:

Accept food donations, document donor information, and ensure timely submission of monthly compliance reports.

Food Safety Compliance:

Monitor refrigerator and freezer unit temperatures, ensure proper food storage, and uphold ServSafe standards. Ensure daily, weekly and monthly compliance reporting is completed per contract requirements by Second Harvest Food Bank.

Food Distribution and Volunteer Coordination:

Oversee pantry volunteers and work closely with the Volunteer Manager to provide training and ensure compliance with food safety and organizational policies. Maintain consistent volunteer coverage during pantry operations, offering support as needed, including assisting with food distribution and pantry organization.

Customer Service:

Provide exceptional service to donors, shoppers, and volunteers, fostering a welcoming and appreciative environment.

Qualifications:


High school diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred, AND equivalent work experience. Ability to pass a Florida Level 2 background check. Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record. (experience with a 26 ft. box truck is a plus). ServSafe certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire). Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs. on a consistent basis. This role requires good physical health. Experience in warehouse operations, logistics, retail, or nonprofit settings preferred. Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills. Patience, flexibility, and leadership skills to work with clients, customers, volunteers, and staff in a positive, professional manner.

Work Schedule & Compensation:


Full-time, hourly, non-exempt position. Set weekly hours, but flexibility may be required for special events or distributions. Hiring range: $15 - $16/hr, depending on experience.
