The Costco team is looking for a dedicated and highly skilled Full Stack Engineer with an emphasis on cloud microservices development. This API Full Stack Engineer will perform development work including debugging and optimization of .net and Java microservices, associated back-end data store (NoSQL and RDBMS), and integration with other Costco systems. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to manage the completion of projects that involve digital API services in a highly distributed and reliable application. This position will require an individual to design, build, debug, optimize and implement solutions in a fast-paced Agile environment participating and working closely with a highly motivated team serving millions of customers on a daily basis.

ROLE

\xe2\x97\x8f Supports Systems Architects with the design of the overall architecture of a specific product/application, applying principles that promote availability, reusability, interoperability and security into the design framework.

\xe2\x97\x8f Performs development, optimization, and automation activities to support the implementation of a product/application.

\xe2\x97\x8f Increases proficiency and understanding of relational and non-relational databases, distributed application architectures, user interfaces and user experience, quality assurance, security concerns, and business value creation.

\xe2\x97\x8f Adopts engineering best practices to deliver higher quality and scalable solutions.

\xe2\x97\x8f Provides the team with the development strategy, solution recommendations, and estimates for a given product/application.

\xe2\x97\x8f Participates in scrum ceremonies (sprint planning, retrospective, showcases/demos, stand-ups, backlog refinement, etc.).

\xe2\x97\x8f Creates and executes unit tests which validate the code changes made to support the implementation of a user story.

\xe2\x97\x8f Uses test driven development (TDD) practices to assist with the detection/recognition of software defects early in the development process.

\xe2\x97\x8f Identifies deficiencies within a product/application\xe2\x80\x99s code base and identifies opportunities to improve overall code quality.

\xe2\x97\x8f Works with team members to move user stories from the development backlog into testing and provides clarification when needed.

\xe2\x97\x8f Estimates, plans, and manages all implementation tasks and reports on development progress.

\xe2\x97\x8f Demonstrates a strong understanding of emerging technologies to support the development of new solutions.

\xe2\x97\x8f Collaborates with team members (e.g., Systems Architects, Systems Analysts) to define project specifications and release documentation for all phases of the product development cycle from product definition to design, through implementation.

\xe2\x97\x8f Conducts peer code reviews for the software changes made by other engineers within a team.

\xe2\x97\x8f Designs, builds, debugs, optimizes and implements solutions in .NET, Java, NoSql, and RDBMS. The development of high quality, efficient and fault tolerant is an essential part of the position.

\xe2\x97\x8f Delivers automation scripts and unit test automation under DevSecOps.

\xe2\x97\x8f Works with and supports Systems Architects with the design of the overall architecture of a specific product/application, applying principles that promote availability, reusability, interoperability and security into the design framework.

\xe2\x97\x8f Performs development, debugging, optimization, and automation activities to support the implementation of a product/application.

\xe2\x97\x8f Uses APM/monitoring tools such as Dynatrace/Splunk and browser tools to perform request purepath/waterfall analysis to identify bottlenecks and suggest improvements.

\xe2\x97\x8f Drives engineering best practices to deliver higher quality and scalable solutions.

\xe2\x97\x8f Participates in development and documentation of department standards and best practices, and mentor junior engineers.

\xe2\x97\x8f Provides the team with solution recommendations and estimates for a given product/application.

\xe2\x97\x8f Understands the full technology stack and underlying applications, services, and databases in order to ensure optimal performance.

REQUIRED

\xe2\x97\x8f Minimum 5 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in performing API microservices development using C# and/or Java.

\xe2\x97\x8f Experience with developing and running applications in a public cloud environment (Azure preferred).

\xe2\x97\x8f Hands-on working knowledge of a major relational database (DB2, SQL Server etc.) and/or NoSql.

\xe2\x97\x8f Experience working in CI/CD, and designing and delivering DevSecOps automation for app deployment and testing.

\xe2\x97\x8f Strong knowledge and experience working with Web Technologies using JavaScript, React.

\xe2\x97\x8f Experience describing the solutions and generating the architecture (Logical, Physical) artifacts.

\xe2\x97\x8f Ability to work with all levels of the development organization, including non-technical resources.

\xe2\x97\x8f Minimum 5 years of application development experience in Java and JavaScript.

\xe2\x97\x8f Experience programming in major databases such as Microsoft SQL Server.

\xe2\x97\x8f Must possess a strong understanding of the software development process.

\xe2\x97\x8f Strong knowledge of object-oriented concepts.

\xe2\x97\x8f Strong knowledge and experience working with databases.

\xe2\x97\x8f Strong verbal and written communication skills and be able to communicate to both technical and business audiences.

\xe2\x97\x8f Demonstrated ability to execute against iteration plans and deliver assignments within scope, schedule, and budget.

\xe2\x97\x8f Ability to work with all management levels.

\xe2\x97\x8f Team player, good interpersonal, organizational and communication skills. Creative, likes challenges.

\xe2\x97\x8f 1+ years event and pub/sub technologies like Azure Service Bus, IBM MQ, and Kafka.

\xe2\x97\x8f Knowledge of software design patterns.

Pay Ranges:

Level 2 - $107,500 - $137,500

Level 3 - $127,500 - $162,500

Level 4 - $152,500 - $182,500, Bonus and Restricted Stock Unit (RSU) eligible
