Job Summary

The Police Officer plays a crucial role in maintaining law and order within the community. This position requires individuals who are committed to public safety, possess strong ethical standards, and are capable of handling various situations with professionalism and integrity. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply. This position requires employees to reside within city limits of Rock Valley.

Duties

Ensure the safety and security of the public by responding to emergencies, providing assistance to victims, and reducing or preventing involvement in crime. Build relationships with the community while helping to contribute to the health and safety of vulnerable populations. Create community awareness by using crime prevention methods or intervention initiatives. Conduct thorough investigations of crimes. Prepare detailed reports on incidents and arrests. Enforce traffic laws and city ordinances. Participate in and testify at court hearings when required. Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies and community organizations to enhance public safety. Demonstrate pride in the job and place of employment. Represent the City of Rock Valley and the Rock Valley Police Department at all times in a professional manner. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Experience

Candidates for the Police Officer position should possess a background that demonstrates their capability in law enforcement or related fields. Preferred skills include:

Able to pass all written examinations, physical fitness tests, and psychological tests that are required by the State of Iowa and the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy. Strong drive to serve the community with integrity and professionalism. Ability to communicate in English and Spanish is an asset. Have a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Meet hearing standards. Have uncorrected vision of at least 20/100 in both eyes. Have good moral character and pass a background investigation. Not be addicted to drugs or alcohol.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $66,146.00 - $83,785.00 per year
