Job Duties
About Us: The Ohio Casino Control Commission has the responsibility to ensure the integrity of casino gaming, sports gaming, skill-based amusement machines and fantasy contests by licensing, regulating, investigating and enforcing state laws. The Ohio Casino Control Commission is a bipartisan regulatory body made up of seven Commissioners, an Executive Director and supporting staff that provides oversight of the casino gaming industry in Ohio. To fulfill the mission and the responsibilities of the Commission, the Executive Director oversees eight divisions that provide critical functions to ensure the integrity of casino gaming: communications, enforcement, legal counsel, licensing & investigations (casino gaming, sports gaming & fantasy contests), operations, regulatory compliance, responsible gambling and skill games.   • Only applicants with current OPOTA Peace Officer certification will be considered for this position.
  • 24/7 operation that includes 3 shifts- schedule consists of four, 10-hour shifts with 3-days off (days off are on a rotating schedule).
  • Exposed to hostile persons/situations &/or physical violence.
  • May require overnight travel &/or working prolonged & irregular hours.

  • Conducting statewide overt and covert criminal investigations in Ohio casinos and illegal casinos.
  • Conducting surveillance (audio, video, visual and photographic).
  • Preparing and submitting detailed investigative reports for criminal and/or regulatory violations.
  • Authoring and preparing detailed search warrants for presentation to the proper court jurisdiction.
  • Compiling intelligence information and preparing detailed reports for submission to internal and external intelligence personnel.
  • Interviewing victims, witnesses and subjects for criminal and regulatory investigations.
  • Collecting, preserving and properly securing evidence for processing.
  • Preparing criminal cases for presentation to Prosecutors up to and including testimony in the Grand Jury and Courtroom.
  • Serving as liaison to and works with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies.
  • Verifying casino/gaming equipment for compliance with Commission rules and regulations.
  • Providing assistance with problem gaming by enrolling individuals in the State of Ohio Voluntary Exclusion Program.

  • Starting compensation for this position is $29.71 hourly/$61,797 annually with the opportunity to advance in pay after the successful completion of a one-year probationary period. This position is in Pay Range 12, please visit Pay Range Table for more information.

Qualifications


3.5 yrs. law enforcement or equivalent military law enforcement experience; OPOTC; & valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license.

  • Or completion of associate core program in criminal justice, social sciences (e.g., psychology, sociology, criminology), or other field commensurate with job duties; 2 yrs. experience in law enforcement; Ohio Peace Officer Training Certification (OPOTC); & valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license.

  • Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above. The final applicant must successfully pass background check by appointing authority, which includes a polygraph. The final applicant accepted for this position will be required to submit to urinalysis to test for illegal drug use. An applicant with a positive test result will not be offered employment, per section 123:1-76-09 of the Ohio Administrative Code.

Skill in operation of firearms (e.g., 40 caliber semi-automatic); two-way radio; recording devices & camera. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts & draw valid conclusions; maintain accurate records; prepare meaningful, concise & accurate reports; gather, collate & classify information about people, places or things; handle sensitive inquiries from & contact with officials & general public; deal with problems involving several variables in familiar context; prepare & deliver speeches before specialized audiences & general public & cooperate with co-workers on group projects.
