Class Summary

As a GIS Analyst II you will be responsible for performing analytical duties in support of Geographic Information Systems. Incumbents are well-rounded with a wide range of skills, ability to multi-task, and work independently. Successful candidates create, edit, maintain, analyze, and manage diverse geospatial vector and raster data, perform Quality Assurance/Quality Control, and conduct ad-hoc analysis.

Other essential duties:
- Update and maintain diverse geospatial datasets such as road centerlines, parcel boundaries, zoning,
and annexation GIS information for Gwinnett County.
- Extract and transform data from a variety of internal and external authoritative sources.
- Use varying analysis methods to provide useful and timely information to decision makers and
recommend appropriate reactionary strategies in response to business unit requests. digital datasets and paper maps to clients to supplement analysis.
- Writes standard operating procedures and technical support documentation as required.
- Develops workflows and GIS modeling techniques to help automate repetitive tasking for normal business operations.
- Deep understanding of Esri environment\'s geoprocessing tools for data and geodatabase performance
maintenance.
- Provide customer service to County personnel and the public.
- Perform quality control for GIS data.
- Participate in developing, implementing, and modifying GIS software applications.
- Conduct research to identify technical solutions for application suitability.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (These will be pulled from the class spec):

  • Bachelor\'s Degree in a closely related field
  • One year of directly related GIS experience;
  • or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of ArcGIS Platform, Web AppBuilder, ArcGIS Experience Builder, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS
Portal
- Familiarity with python and SQL scripting to support GIS automations, web and mobile GIS solutions.
- GISP Preferred

After a 60-day assessment period, new hires may be eligible to telework on a limited rotation.

This job requires a public safety background check to include motor vehicle histories, criminal histories and fingerprinting.
