Job Responsibilities

Manages the GIS section of the SC Army National Guard (SCARNG) Environmental Department. Provides GIS expertise and authoritative standardized spatial information, products, and services for the execution of the Conservation and Compliance GIS program. Supervises the activities of GIS staff. Oversees the development and growth of the Conservation & Compliance Environmental portion of the SCARNG Enterprise GIS. Develops budgets and identifies sources of additional funding. Other projects may be applicable, as well as those identified by the SCARNG GIS Program Manager.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A bachelor\'s degree in geography or a related field and work experience in the development and maintenance of geographic information systems; or an associate degree in geography or a related field and expert-level work experience in the development and maintenance of geographic information systems.

Preferred Qualifications

Prefer 2 years of experience in the development and maintenance of a geographic information system; or an associate degree and 5 years of relevant, expert-level work experience in GIS.

Additional Comments

Knowledge of GIS software standards and capabilities, database development, and spatial analysis. Direct experience collecting survey-grade data with GPS equipment. Ability to analyze and accommodate GIS user requirements. Ability to develop and manage GIS projects effectively. Ability to plan, oversee and evaluate the activities of others. Knowledge of aerial photo interpretation and digitization preferred. Advanced level knowledge of ESRI GIS software suite (10.8x). Knowledge of GIS Web Applications preferred. Experience using and troubleshooting GPS hardware and software. Knowledge of SDSFIE data standards preferred. Employee must possess a valid SC driver\'s license and must be able to pass a Public Trust level background check.
