The Location:Hale Makua Health Services is a Maui based non-profit that improves the well-being of those in its care through compassionate personalized health services. We are devoted to helping Maui's Elders live their best lives. Hale Makua's Kahului location is a 254-bed nursing facility.The Position:We're looking for passionate Graduate Practical Nurses to help us with providing professional nursing care to residents following established policies and procedures of the facility.

• Participates in OPH's Nurse Residency Program, which includes: developing clinical and leadership skills to become successful as a full partner within the healthcare team; analysis of evidence through reviews of the literature; application of outcomes data to patient care improvements; professional development; coaching to clinical success.
• Under the direction of the preceptor, demonstrates knowledge of the patient's diagnoses, limitations, expectations, plan of health, and current status.
• Under the direction of the preceptor, administers medications and treatments as ordered by the physician and according to policy and procedures.
• Under the direction of the preceptor, appraises the family, physician and others of changes/incidents.

Requirements:

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing within the past 18 months
• Within 4 months of start date in GPN position, must obtain license as License Practical Nurse in the State of Hawaii .
• Experience in geriatrics and current nursing standards of practice preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and abbreviation required.
• BLS First Aid and CPR preferred (can be done in-house).
