Pay Range: $55.00 Per Hour

Hours: 15 hours per week

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic group exercise instructor to lead dynamic and challenging group fitness classes for our members. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable, motivating, and able to create a positive and encouraging atmosphere for participants.

Job Requirements

BCNY is a COVID-19 proactive organization that follows applicable health and safety regulations to help protect our members and staff. To that end, we require that all BCNY full-time employees be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. BCNY requires all full-time staff to receive a booster shot that protects against COVID-19 once they become eligible. New full-time employees will be asked to submit proof of full vaccination prior to their start date. BCNY treats proof of vaccination confidentially and consistent with applicable law, and will not use the information for any purpose other than to ensure compliance with BCNY\xe2\x80\x99s mandatory vaccination policy. Part time employees are strongly encouraged but not required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead engaging and challenging group fitness classes for participants of varying skill levels.

• Demonstrate proper exercise techniques and form, providing guidance and modification as needed.

• Create and maintain a safe and positive exercise environment, ensuring participants are adhering to proper safety guidelines.

• Encourage and motivate participants throughout classes, providing feedback and support to help clients meet their fitness goals.

• Stay up to date on industry trends, new workout routines, and fitness methods in order to offer cutting-edge classes.

• Attend regular training sessions and workshops to improve and diversify teaching skills.

• Maintain professional and positive communication with members and staff.

• Assist with any additional tasks related to fitness programming as needed.

Qualifications

• Nationally recognized certification in group exercise instruction (e.g. ACSM, ACE, AFAA) \xe2\x80\xa2 1-2 years of experience instructing group fitness classes, with experience teaching different class formats (e.g. HIIT, Pilates, yoga, cycling, dance) \xe2\x80\xa2 Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate, inspire, and connect with participants. \xe2\x80\xa2 Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and exercise science principles, and the ability to create workouts to meet varying skill levels. \xe2\x80\xa2 Ability to lead high-energy classes while maintaining a safe environment. \xe2\x80\xa2 Must be CPR and AED certified.
