Job Summary
Provides excellent customer service to all guests of Living History Farms. Facilitates point of sale transactions including admissions, memberships, and merchandise. Orients guests to touring options, guest transportation and daily museum events and activities.
Specific Duties
Actively welcomes guests and assists them to make the most of their visitor experience.
Prepares and sells retail merchandise, general admission tickets and museum memberships to visitors.
Processes sales transactions using Point of Sale software.
Performs daily drawer reconciliations and records daily cash receipts.
Provides guests with wayfinding and facility information and guides them to orientation.
Assists guests with all inquiries and provides information about the museum, special events and daily activities.
Solicits guest feedback about their museum experience at Living History Farms.
Provides regular communication with guest transportation associates regarding admissions.
Performs housekeeping activities according to Procedure Manuals (stocking & pricing merchandise, dusting, mopping, wiping counters, trash removal, etc.).
Ensures merchandise and promotional displays are neat, clean, correct, and stocked.
Assists with upkeep of the Cultivation Center by reporting any concerns to the proper department regarding lobby space and guest amenities.
Other duties as assigned.

Education and Skills
Previous retail or guest service experience preferred.
Point of Sale or other retail sales software experience preferred.
Basic knowledge of operating a cash register and making change.
Outgoing, friendly, and cooperative spirit is required.
Proven dependability and organizational skills, as well as attention to detail and time management skills required.
Demonstrated excellent communication (verbal and written) and customer service skills required.
Computer skills required, including experience with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
Able to work successfully under pressure and maintain a positive and professional attitude while handling multiple tasks.
Able to perform physical tasks such as climb stairs and a ladder, retrieve boxes from storage shelving, lift to 30 pounds, and ability to stand for extended period of time.
Ability to learn general and specific information about the museum's sites, facilities and programs and monitor LHF website for upcoming events and activities.
Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
Position Hours
May 1 - October 31, 2025
Approximately 20 hours per week, scheduled:
Tuesdays-Fridays 1:00pm to 4:15pm
Saturdays 8:45am to 4:15pm
This position will also serve as a substitute for the registrar and membership coordinator throughout the season. Those additional hours will be scheduled with advanced notice, when possible. This position will also cover 6 shifts during Halloween nights from 4:45pm-8:15pm approximately October 17-19 and October 24-26, 2025.
