About McCarthy River Tours McCarthy River Tours (MRTo), the leader in high end Single & Multi Day Raft Trips and Glacier Hiking in Wrangell St. Elias National Park, is seeking an Operations Manager. Founded in 2010, McCarthy River Tours & Outfitters offers small group size Multi Day River Expeditions from 2 to 14+ days through Class II to Class V whitewater & Private Day Rafting, Glacial Lake Kayak Tours & Day Glacier Hikes on the Root & Kennicott Glaciers. We emphasize the guest experience by focusing on Safety, High Quality, Authenticity & Exceptional Customer Service. Our Mission:

Our clientele consists primarily of Independent Travelers and Small Group Van Tour Affiliates with the occasional large group tour and Cruise Ship Passenger. Our guests travel from all over the world, mainly from within Alaska, the contiguous United States, China, Europe & Israel and are drawn to Alaska wilderness & America\xe2\x80\x99s largest National Park. The Guiding Operations Manager oversees a team of 8-12 employees, ensures the quality & safety of McCarthy River Tours Single & Multi Day Rafting, Kayak & Glacier Hike tours as well as managing our river shuttles, staff hiring & scheduling, payroll submission to bookkeeping, and overseeing/delegating/reporting maintenance and repairs of MRTO equipment, vehicles and facilities. We are seeking an organized, self-motivated individual who is competent in the following areas; Responsibilities Operations
  • Hiring & Managing Seasonal Staff
  • Pre-season Training, Orientation & Advising staff on safety & risk management
  • Managing pre/during/post trip logistics
  • Creation and improvement of Operations Systems
  • Develop/Manage pre/post trip inventory lists (Check in/Check out)
  • Overseeing Preseason and Postseason Inventory
  • Organizing Preseason Gear System Set Up/Postseason Clean and Gear Storage
  • Operating High Quality, Safe, Customer Oriented Guided Tours
  • Overseeing maintenance and operations of the MRTo facilities & camp (grounds keeping, waste management, cleaning, vehicles, buildings, projects, etc.)
  • Admin Work in Peak Season
  • Weekly guiding schedules
  • Ensure guide assignment, manifests and waiver submission in our tour reservation software.
  • Bi-monthly payroll submission
  • Admin Work in Offseason
  • Refining Guide Position s
  • Posting and Promoting open positions
Qualifications Essential
  • Minimum of five (5) years in the Outdoor & Adventure Travel Industry
  • Possess a great attention to detail, logistics guru, big picture seer and planner.
  • Swiftwater Rescue, CPR/AED & Wilderness First Responder Certifications (can be completed post hire)
  • Valid United States state issued Driver\'s License
  • Excellent Communication Skills
  • A Can Do Attitude - Willingness to work in various tasks across a growing company.
Preferable
  • Experience in Single & Multi Day Guided Tours
  • Working proficiency in Microsoft Office & Google Suite

  • We are a small company, consisting of 10-15 employees in peak season and 2-3 part time roles in the offseason.
  • This is a seasonal position with full time work from April 15th to October 15th and 80-100 hours a month from October 16th to April 14th.
  • Salary is determined by prior experience.
  • We ask for a 2 year minimum commitment to maintain a quality experience for our customers from season to season.
