Harmony Project, a department of YWCA Greenwich, is seeking a skilled advocate to join our dedicated and highly trained team. YWCA Greenwich is a state designated domestic violence service provider and member of the CT Coalition Against Domestic Violence (CCADV), as well as a Rape, Abuse, and Incest Network (RAINN) affiliated provider of sexual violence services. Harmony Project delivers a full spectrum of services for those impacted by domestic and sexual violence. All services are free and confidential.
The YWCA Greenwich is seeking a compassionate individual with a commitment to working towards equity and social justice. The Housing Services Coordinator will assist survivors of domestic and sexual violence in attaining housing rapidly and in maintaining safe and stable housing long term. In addition to direct housing services, the Housing Services Coordinator will support survivors to increase income, ensure health insurance coverage, apply for state and federal benefits, and support clients who are able to maintain secure employment.
Candidates must be empathetic, trauma-informed, and able to adapt to an ever-changing environment.
Essential Functions:
Direct Service
The primary role of the Housing Services Coordinator is to provide housing advocacy and case management services to survivors/victims of domestic and sexual violence and/or human trafficking. Case management using a DV Housing First approach, includes trauma-informed, survivor-centered support to obtain housing stabilization, rebuild self-esteem, develop essential life skills, and establish financial independence by helping survivors achieve their goals to increase income and self-sufficiency. Additionally, as is required in state standards and best-practice models, the Housing Services Coordinator will provide survivors with supportive counseling, risk assessment, safety planning, goal setting, resources, and referrals to other support services. Compliance with housing program standards, eligibility and the extensive documentation of all housing services provided by Harmony Project will be the responsibility of the Housing Services Coordinator.
The Housing Services Coordinator will also support the Crisis Intervention Team by responding to 24-hour hotline and delivering crisis intervention services to clients as needed. All services are to be delivered using a trauma-informed and client-defined approach. Candidates must be knowledgeable of community resources and other available programs and services.
Collaborations and Networking
Partnerships with other community service providers is an integral part of housing advocacy. The Housing Services Coordinator will attend various housing service provider meetings and participate in task forces and learning communities, including with homelessness and domestic/sexual violence service providers. The Housing Services Coordinator will be the "in-house" expert on housing programs and services available throughout the state and will work to develop positive working relationships with various service providers, including public housing authorities and private landlords.
MINIMUM E DUCATION AND REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in social service-related field
Minimum of 2 years' professional experience in a social service setting which should include working with individuals impacted by trauma, specifically with family violence
Housing advocacy experience required
Candidates must be knowledgeable of community resources and other available programs and services.
Comprehensive working knowledge of the dynamics of domestic violence, as well as safety planning and client defined advocacy
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, flexibility and basic computer skills
Ability to integrate and manage large amounts of information and communicate this information appropriately and effectively
Willingness to learn how to navigate multiple systems including housing, health, employment, substance use disorder treatment and government benefits
Current certification as battered women's counselor under CGS 52-146k regarding Privileged Communications and maintain certification with required annual continued education (provided)

Recently we have added a Civil Legal Clinic and Financial Literacy Coaching to our array of free services to victims of domestic and sexual violence. In addition, the YWCA Greenwich provides prevention education through extensive training of key members of the community and age-appropriate domestic abuse prevention programs through the Greenwich Public Schools.
