The Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Site Navigation and Browse teams define and build features that optimize the way search engines crawl, index and rank eBay pages. We help our customers easily find and reach relevant eBay pages when searching on search engines like Google, Bing, Yahoo. With literally hundreds of millions of products listed on eBay globally at any time, the scale at which eBay has to consider search engine optimization puts our team in a unique position to innovate and provide immediate value to the business. The SEO, Site Navigation and Browse teams comprise of Analysts, Technical SEOs, Product Management, Product Development, Data Science & Quality Engineering. We also work with Design, User Research, Marketing and other cross-domain organizations to build scalable and highly-available business solutions that are used by millions of eBay users across the globe every day. We are responsible for driving free traffic that represents billions of dollars worth of goods and services bought on eBay.

We are seeking a manager to lead our data team in support of business performance, rapid product feature testing and measurement.

Responsibilities:

Work with Product Managers, Technical SEO, Engineering and other functional and business partners to understand opportunities to drive SEO traffic and resolve issues

Conduct analysis using a multitude of data sources to derive insights that drive business decisions, both tactical and strategic

Provide user-friendly and informative dashboards, reports, and analyses

This is a key role for driving the business performance by providing solid, trustable, practical reporting and insight.

As a people manager, you will have a small team to mentor, grow and set their priorities. The team will grow into a data science scrum team as it\xe2\x80\x99s staffed up.

The right candidate would be a self-starter, able to bring structure, reporting and insights that help to influence priorities for a company at the scale of eBay in a rapidly evolving landscape. This is someone who has a strong eye for business and can become a trusted voice among the leadership team. The position will be based in the San Francisco area.

Qualifications:

Detail oriented and maniacal about accurate, trustworthy data and analyses

Understanding of how to ruthlessly prioritize and an approach with proven success as an analytical contributor

Self-starter with ability to execute hands-on work with data, analytics, and modeling.

Competency in SQL with ability to synthesize large data sets and derive practical insights

Excellent communication & strong presentation skills such as an ability to tell a story using data visualizations

Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in a quantitative or business field (Computer Science, Data Analytics, Statistics, etc.)

Familiarity working in a large scale internet company and history of driving complex projects in the face of ambiguity

Knowledge of SEO would be a bonus

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment in California, Washington, or New York City is expected in the range below. $168,400 - $262,900

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
