Nature of WorkUnder the direction of the Director of the Office of Policy Planning and Research, performs complex administrative and professional work at an advanced level. The Project director is a position of the Federal Substance Use and Mental Health Services Administration (SMHSA) First Responders- Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act (FR-CARA) grant. This position will provide strategic leadership planning, programmatic oversight, in operational direction for the activities and initiatives identified by the federal government. The purpose of this position is to support, train, and provide resources to first responders and members of our key community sectors and administer a drug or device approved or cleared under the Federal Food Drug and Cosmetic Act (FD&C Act) for emergency reversal of known suspected opioid overdose. The project director will also establish processes, protocols, and mechanisms for referral to appropriate treatment and recovery support services, safety around Fentanyl, Carfentanil, and other synthetic opioids, and other licit and illicit drugs associated with overdoses. This position will support SAMHA\'S goal of supporting First Responders efforts to mitigate the overdose epidemic across West Virginia and provide targeted resources to populations disproportionately impacted by opioid use.
