Job Summary
Pay Range: $57,629 - $88,159 Note: Individuals typically begin between the minimum to middle of the pay range Partners with HMSA\'s commercial employer groups to assist in the implementation of strategic and tactical multi-year well-being plans that will improve the health and well-being of HMSA members and their dependents. Works with various group employers\' wellness leaders and wellness committee members to implement their workplace wellness plans, increase engagement in their respective workplace wellness components, and promote a culture of health and well-being. Demonstrates the value of HMSA\'s portfolio of health and well-being solutions through onsite member presentations, group leader workshop sessions, seminars, wellness challenges, and other workplace wellness activities to retain and attract new membership (supporting second sales). Fulfills the workplace wellness initiatives and deliverables under each employer group\'s strategic health and well-being plan. Supports HMSA\'s overall sales and retention initiatives by strategically servicing the health and well-being plan needs of our employer groups and their employees and optimizes the promotion of health and well-being opportunities during those interactions. Utilizes approved marketing communication vehicles to educate members on the value of HMSA and provides members with information on their specific employer health and well-being plan benefits.

Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor\'s degree and three years of related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
  • One year of experience in a teaching, training, sales, marketing, health promotions, project management, or related position.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent planning, coordination, and organization skills
  • Strong decision-making and problem analysis skills
  • Strong customer servicing skills
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Including but not limited to Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point.
  • Valid driver\'s license, with access to an automobile with current license, registration, and no-fault insurance. Requires safely operating an insured automobile for travel to off-site locations to conduct and accomplish business related activities.
  • Active license with the state of Hawaii Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs or pass all four sections of the state licensing examination within three (3) months of hire date. Having an active license to sell Health, Life and Group Insurance products in the state of Hawaii is a condition of employment.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Tactical Activities
    • Responsible for the implementation of tactical workplace well-being plans for employer groups utilizing industry, national, and state best practices to increase employee participation and engagement.
    • Assists in conducting training and/ or seminars for employer groups\' administrators, members, leaders, and/or group decision makers at workshops and/or seminar sessions and conducts other presentations/trainings based on business needs. Responds to group leaders\' questions regarding these subjects, as well as general questions relating to HMSA.
    • Conducts employee Health and Well-being presentations, assessments/screenings, Question and Answer sessions, and supports Health/Wellness fairs and related events at employer sites on Oahu and the Neighbor Islands.
    • Employs exceptional selling skills to sell, promote, educate, and implement HMSA and health and well-being plan benefits, tools, resources, and services to existing and potential members on the group specific plans offered, Well-Being Programs, Model of Care, Disease Management, Preventive Care programs, and other programs in accordance with the strategic marketing goals of AMS/HMSA.
    • Conducts open enrollment sessions as back up to our Health Plan Advisors as needed during OE seasons.
    • Leads, participates, and/or facilitates meetings with the employers\' wellness managers/committee members to keep on track with all events on the calendar. Also, conducts meetings that involve internal workstream meetings, as well as meetings that involve external participants.
    • Sets up calendar and explains responsibilities, expectations, and logistics to make implementation successful. Coordinates staffing and tasks for all deliverables with team members as well as other HMSA departments, vendors, etc., to drive awareness of HMSA\'s value proposition.
    • Works in a cross functional team of Strategic Account Manager/Account Relationship Consultant/Account Service Representative/Health Plan Advisor. Is accountable for providing the reporting and outcomes measurement to the Account Team and internal stakeholders.
    • Responds to members\' questions regarding plan benefits and provisions, as well as general questions relating to HMSA. Resolves member complaints as necessary.
    • Learns and understands the content of plan benefits and health and well-being materials (including web portals) and may assist with material updates. Obtains materials from internal sources and distributes to groups in a timely manner.
    • Reports progress on a weekly basis to Sr. Manager of Well-Being Programs & Medicare Sales, proposes potential solutions for issues, alternatives to mitigate potential problems, and provides adequate notice for future resource needs.
  • Strategic Activities
    • When assigned, participates on the strategic planning team and assists with analyzing and providing insights based on the reporting data provided under the plan.
    • Manages internal and external customer relationships and participates in strategic planning and evaluation sessions with partner Business Teams.
    • Assists with the development of new presentations to communicate new strategies and business objectives to support shared goals and objectives.
    • Delivers reports such as aggregate report, participation reports, HMSA claims utilization and other data. Provides insights and recommendations for future action plans.
  • Performs all other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned or directed.
