Work ArrangementThis role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the GM Heritage Center in Grand Blanc and GM Archive in Flint, Michigan three times per week, at minimum.The RoleGMs Heritage Operations are comprised of the Durant-Dort Carriage Company Factory One, the GM Heritage Center and the GM Archive, located at the Heritage Center. Both facilities, located in Flint and Grand Blanc, Michigan, respectively, offer inclusive visitor experiences for a variety of audiences.The Heritage Archive and Digital Asset Management Lead oversees a team of direct and vendor-staffed information professionals that implement the policies and procedures required to preserve, protect and provide access to General Motors collections of historically significant documentation, literature, visual media and artifacts. This person also leads all digital asset management activity for the organization by developing and executing strategies to govern acquisition, description, access and usage of digital content.In the near term, this leader will establish the new archive area including office space, storage area, and processing center. They will be the primary interface with the storage system provider, Montel, and oversee the organization and re-shelving of cataloged assets. They will be a regular participant of all project meetings and are expected to contribute to their area of expertise and responsibility.What You\'ll DoLead a team of direct and vendor-staffed employees that provide archival services to General Motors.Develop, communicate and execute policies and procedures for the acquisition, arrangement, description and preservation of archival collections.Prioritize archival processing, digitization and description projects, developing strategies for their timely completion and maintaining relevant metrics.Train and provide continuing guidance to team members regarding all aspects of the archival process.Lead the GM Archives digital asset management (DAM) efforts, interfacing with GM IT to develop and execute business requirements for the GM Archives DAM systems with regards to user interface, metadata strategy, content migration, workflow processes, user access and permission.Establish relationships with potential donors to acquire and preserve significant archival collections to help tell the story of General Motors, its predecessors, and subsidiaries.Work closely with the heritage leadership team to strengthen and promote GM Heritage Operations.Participate in the selection, orientation, supervision, and evaluation of paid and volunteer staff as required.Additional Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)Bachelors degree in library and information science, or related, with an emphasis on archival administration and/or electronic records.7+ years of relevant experience in processing collections and developing archives.Working knowledge of the automotive industry in general and General Motors in particular.Highly developed communication and relationship management skills.Ability to organize and plan effectively, often in an ambiguous and changing environment.Ability to influence without authority.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.Ability to work collaboratively in a small team to achieve both individual and shared objectives.What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)Masters degree in library and information science, or related, with an emphasis on archival administration and/or electronic records.GM DOES NOT PROVIDE IMMIGRATION-RELATED SPONSORSHIP FOR THIS ROLE.
