Highway Construction Inspector I: $3,449 to $4,365 per month (SR-12, Step C to I).
Highway Construction Inspector II: $3,730 to $4,723 per month (SR-14, Step C to I).
Highway Construction Inspector III: $4,199 to $5,308 per month (SR-17, Step C to I).
Note: Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, the applicant\'s qualifications, and other relevant factors.

Duties Summary
The Highway Construction Inspector I: Inspects a particular phase of the construction of highways, to ascertain whether construction methods, practices and materials conform to plans and specifications, contracts, agreements and standard methods of work; and performs other related duties as assigned.
The Highway Construction Inspector II: Inspects various phases of highway construction to ascertain whether construction methods, practices and materials conform to plans and specifications, and standard methods of work; and resolves problems based on precedents or instructions and only refers problems to supervisors when such situations are not covered by precedents or are beyond the scope of instructions.
The Highway Construction Inspector III: Independently inspects all phases of the construction of highways and related structures for conformance with plans and specifications, contracts, agreements and standard methods of work.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
To qualify, applicants must meet all of the following requirements:
Basic Education/Experience: Graduation from high school or equivalent; or work experience which involved tasks that demonstrated knowledge of English grammar, spelling and arithmetic; ability to read and understand oral and written instructions; and the ability to write simply and directly.
General Experience: ONE (1) YEAR of work experience in one or a combination of A or B below:
A. Journey level experience in a construction trade. This experience must have required the ability to read and interpret blue-prints or plans.
B. Progressively responsible experience performing a variety of technical, non-professional engineering tasks under general supervision. This experience must have involved inspectional work and must be comparable to the Engineering Aid III level.
The Engineering Aid III performs a variety of routine technical, non-professional engineering tasks under general supervision.
Specialized Experience: For Highway Construction Inspector II (1 year) and III (2 years) levels
Applicant must possess progressively responsible work experience in the inspection of phases of the construction of highways to ascertain whether construction methods, practices and materials conform to plans and specifications, contracts, agreements, and methods of work.
Driver\'s License Requirement: Applicants must possess a valid license to drive in the State of Hawaii, at the time of appointment.
