The MOHS lab processes surgical tissues using H&E stains alongside a suite of immunohistochemical stains. All processing is completed as the patient is waiting in the surgical suite.Visit the to watch a brief video of Dane discussing a life-changing career in Histology at Mayo Clinic.Histology Technician:Performs a variety of technical procedures that result in the creation of microscopic slide preparations. These technical procedures may include accessioning specimens, specimen processing and microtomy techniques, paraffin, frozen, and plastic. Technical staining procedures include routine Hematoxylin and Eosin, special stains, immunofluorescence, immunohistochemical staining, and in situ hybridization. Participates in on-call rotations, including weekends as needed.Histotechnologist:Prepares specimens and performs testing procedures on pathology specimens that result in the creation of microscopic slide preparations for diagnostic and/or prognostic analysis by the pathologist. Applies technical theory to provide overall operational support necessary to maintain and optimize testing activities.*These positions are not eligible for visa sponsorship.
