Position Summary:




The Registered Dietitian serves as a consultant to the Kailua Home Team in providing nutritional counseling for patients and their loved ones. Participates in active patient/family nutritional counseling upon referral and is available to inspect the in-patient facilities as requested.


Primary Responsibilities:



Adheres to standards of nutritional care as it relates to the special needs of patients under the agency's care based on Recommended Dietary Allowances of the Food and Nutrition Board of the National Research Council of the National Academy of Sciences. Assists with the development of nutritional care policies and procedures for the agency. Assists the Facilities Manager with resources for nutritional assessments and patient/family counseling according to the Interdisciplinary Plan of Care and the physician's orders. Participates in the Interdisciplinary Team conferences as necessary. Documents in the patient record consistent with the agency's policies and procedures. Provides in-service to agency staff and volunteers as needed. Assists in the development of an assessment tool for primary caregivers and the bereaved in order to monitor the nutritional status of caregivers when requested.

The ability to understand and connect with clients facing diverse health challenges, providing supportive guidance and considering their emotional needs. Demonstrates strong communication skills, clearly explaining complex nutritional information, tailoring advice to individual needs, and actively listening to patient concerns. The ability to evaluate and analyze dietary intake, assess nutritional needs, and interpret scientific research to develop personalized plans. Collaborates effectively with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and ensure optimal outcomes. Respects and shows understanding of different cultural perspectives on food and nutrition to provide culturally appropriate advice. Strong problem-solving skills to identify potential barriers to dietary changes, adapting plans as needed, and finding creative solutions to address challenges. Organizational skills to manage patient schedules, maintain accurate records, and efficiently prioritize tasks. Demonstrates adaptability by being flexible to adjust plans based on changing patient needs and new scientific information.

Experience and Education Requirements:



Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or related field required. Master of Public Health in Nutrition preferred Must be registered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the American Dietetic Association. Must have a minimum of two years' clinical experience as a dietitian. Must have current and valid CPR BLS Certification and Can obtain TB & Infectious Disease Clearance

Salary Range




$44.00 - 46.00 Per Hour


Hours




Per-Diem - Up to 20 hours/month.
