Job Description


Primary Responsibilities Supervisor of district custodians. Ensure the proper care
and cleaning of all district buildings and grounds for
educational use.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
PERFORMANCE
1. Assumes responsibility for the comprehensive cleaning and maintaining the physical
facilities and grounds of the district.
2. Works with the Assistant Superintendent of Support Services to recruit, interview
and hire custodians.
3. Coordinates with custodians to establish cleaning standards and building day
custodian duties and responsibilities.
4. Inspects all school buildings, grounds and installations on a regular basis to
determine that comfort, health, and safety are maintained.
5. Participates in training programs as provided or requested by the district.
6. Completes duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent
for Support Services.
7. Assign areas and duties to custodial personnel.
8. Trains new custodial personnel and temporary workers, including asbestos locations
in building in accordance with district asbestos plan.
9. Schedule all district custodians.
10.Ensures material safety data sheet (MSDS) files are available and up to date in all
buildings.
11.Contacts and schedules substitute custodians.
12.Completes performance evaluations of custodians annually.
13.Prepare for evening and weekend activities and contacts activities director when
necessary.
14.Keeps an inventory of supplies and equipment, and requisitions needed
replacements in a timely manner for completion of work.
15.Monitors use of supplies and equipment, deliver inventory to buildings to ensure
completion of work.
16.Assists with budget preparation for procurement of custodial supplies and
equipment.

17.Always conducts self as a representative of the school district.
18.Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships with staff.
19.Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships with administrators
20.Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships with community.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
A maintenance employee is contracted for 52 weeks per year. Compensation is
according to the support staff salary schedule as established by the board of education;
duty hours are stipulated on individual contracts. All other employee benefits are
provided for full-time employees.EVALUATION
Performance of this position will be evaluated at least annually by the Assistant
Superintendent of Support Services according to policies for support staff evaluation.APPLICATION PROCEDURES
