The City of Commerce City is excited to announce, that our Community Well-Being division is growing. We are seeking a Housing Navigator with experience in program administration duties related to providing supportive services for clients who are experiencing homelessness or at risk. With such a diverse community, the Housing Navigator must be comfortable assisting and providing support to those in poverty and/or those experiencing housing insecurities. The Housing Navigator will also provide stabilization services to Community Well-Being clients and residents of Commerce City by establishing connections with housing providers, including private landlords, public housing agencies, and local authorities. This position will serve as the liaison to those who are experiencing housing insecurity and demonstrating multiple barriers to achieving and maintaining stable housing. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Creates and maintains housing inventories for specialized populations such as veterans, people with disabilities, seniors, and low-income population
Engages and maintains relationships with landlords and property managers to identify and expand available housing for division clients
Prepares materials for making presentations to realtors, landlords and property managers, and/or property owners to expand inventory of available units to division clients
Develops and maintains a database or system to house program information to include: data and statistics, strategic and operational issues, action plans and strategies, resources and other information relevant to the program
Assists in planning, development, implementation and management of program strategies, procedures, goals and performance measures: tracks and reports on the progress of goals and performance measures; makes recommendations for changes or improvements to achieve desired outcomes
Monitors the financial management and processes of grants (e.g., budget preparation, budget adjustments, expenditures, etc.) to comply with all program and funding guidelines of awards and awarded organizations
Recruits partners to host educational workshops: first-time home buying process, foreclosure prevention, home maintenance, and tenant/homeowner rights and responsibilities
Attends relevant community partner meetings and serves as a liaison
Light-touch case management to facilitate clients\' access to permanent and stable housing; referring clients to other agencies for ongoing case management and community resources as needed
Assistdivision clients and residents in need to navigate the housing process, including searching for eligible housing, assistance in completing applications, speaking and engaging with landlords and property managers
Mediate and troubleshoot housing-related difficulties with landlords and division clients, providing assistance as necessary to maintain housing tenancy
Help residentsmaintain stable housing, educating them about tenant responsibilities and rights
Utilizes a Trauma-informed approach to communicate effectively with clients with multiple housing barriers; Provide crisis intervention services to residents facing eviction
Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in social work, communication, public relations, marketing, social sciences or a related field a minimum of three (3)years of experience in program administration duties related to providing supportive services for clients who are either homeless or in danger of homelessness. Experience working with diverse populations and training in trauma-informed care or poverty or homelessness issues are required. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered. Must possess a valid driver\'s license Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of:
current housing market information, housing trends and available affordable housing resources
existing community resources available to assist individuals in need
poverty causes, trends, issues, and solutions
proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar, use of all parts of speech
Demonstrated proficiency in assisting individuals in navigating the housing process from homelessness to stability
modern office equipment and technology in the completion of daily activities
Skills in:
customer service and client relationship skills
organizational skills and experience maintaining filing systems
performing mathematical calculations; addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, decimals, basic principles of algebra and geometry, and estimating time and weight
working with households experiencing homelessness
working with landlords and property managers
negotiation for securing suitable housing options for clients
preparing and professionally delivering presentations to the public, city council, and other groups; must be able to interact with others in a positive manner

Equipment Used, Work Environment and Physical Activities
Driving: Drives a city or personal vehicle in the normal course of business
Office Equipment: Daily use of computer, keyboard, copier, scanner, printer, calculator, phone (desk & cell), camera, and electronic diagnostic equipment. Daily use of software programs including Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Word, Excel
Other Equipment: Occasional use of ladders.
Physical Activities: Moderate physical activity that may include walking, sitting, standing, stooping, bending, reaching, lifting & carrying
Lifting: Frequently lifts, carries, and exerts\xe2\x80\xafup to 40 pounds
Vision and Hearing: Must have visual acuity to see and read paper and electronic documents. Must be able to answer telephones, communicate conversation and respond to verbal inquires.Must be able to recognize sound on construction sites that indicate nearby equipment and/or safety hazards
Exposure to Environmental Conditions: Will be exposed to extreme heat, cold, dry, wet, odors, smoke, loud noises, vibrations, dust or intense lightand hazards normally associated with construction sites. May be exposed to chemicals including cleaners, solvents, paints and other potentially toxic agents. Work may be performed in precarious or tight spaces.
Schedule: Position generally scheduled Monday - Friday; occasionally weekend work. May require attendance at off-site meetings.
Additional Working Conditions:May be exposed to work settings that vary in convenience and comfort. May be required to visit external, non-city work sites with the City having limited control over the work environment.
