GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Fulfill your passion for serving others and making a difference in your community while starting a career in state government. Work as a member of an interdisciplinary team to implement patient treatment plans while providing a safe, caring, and respectful environment for Wyoming State Hospital patients. In addition, the Wyoming State Hospital will pay you to attend and obtain your CNA license.

The city of Evanston is a small Rocky Mountain community that is a 45-minute drive from the world-famous ski slopes of Park City, Utah. The area surrounding Evanston is excellent for recreational activities such as hiking, camping, fishing, biking, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.

  • Monitor patient behaviors while providing support and nursing interventions.
  • Encourage appropriate behaviors that enhance participation in recovery.
  • Act as a patient advocate.
  • Assist patients with daily planning.
  • Document patient progress during hospitalization.
  • Participate in shift change reports and team meetings.
  • Assist nurses with milieu management and work environment safety.
  • Utilize de-escalation interventions as necessary.
Qualifications

PREFERENCES:

Preference may be given to applicants with current CNA certification.

KNOWLEDGE:
  • Knowledge of de-escalation techniques and management of aggressive behaviors.
  • Knowledge of ethics and how to maintain professional boundaries.
  • Skill in using a computer and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of emergency procedures such as CPR, First Aide, and RACE.
  • Knowledge of standard infection control practices.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Associate\'s Degree (typically in Healthcare)

Experience:
No prior experience required

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
CNA Certification obtained within twelve (12) months of hire

OR

Education & Experience Substitution:
1-3 years of progressive work experience (typically in Human Services)

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

CNA Certification obtained within twelve (12) months of hire

Necessary Special Requirements

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Ability to perform C.P.R., First Aide, Crisis Management, and utilize proper infection control and defensive driving practices.
  • Ability to stand for long periods.
  • Ability to lift to 50 pounds or one-quarter of one\'s body weight with assistance.
NOTES:
  • FLSA: Non-exempt
  • A background check, including fingerprinting, will be completed through the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation, the Wyoming Department of Family Services, and the F.B.I. for every successful applicant.
  • Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing will be conducted on safety-sensitive positions. Drug testing will be completed on any position if reasonable suspicion exists.
