JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Human Resources is looking for a detail-oriented, customer-focused individual to join their Absence Management team. The HR Assistant is responsible for assisting with Leave of Absence (LOA), Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Workers\xe2\x80\x99 Compensation, time off pertaining to leaves, and disability benefits for the University benefit billing. This individual will need to provide excellent customer service to University employees who request leaves, disability benefits, and time off, as well as questions/concerns relating to Workers\xe2\x80\x99 Compensation and benefit billing.

This position will support the Absence Management Team with the following job responsibilities:

  • Workers\xe2\x80\x99 Compensation (WC) signature packets tracked on spreadsheet and sent to WC Third Party Administrator (TPA)
  • Prepare statement of wages for all individuals out of work on WC and send to WC Third Party Administrator (TPA)
  • Prepare all payments received for benefits in arrears, send to payroll and accounting
  • Assist employees with benefit arrears and invoice questions/problems
  • Assist Payroll and Benefits on arrear errors/issues
  • Separate/distribut all incoming mail for Absence Management
  • Process checks for WC with Payroll
  • Schedule WC litigation hearings
  • Assist Specialists with phone calls and inquiries as needed
  • Complete insurance/disability forms for employees
  • Perform the arrears billing each monthly and bi-weekly pay period
  • Complete the delinquent arrears report and mail letters
  • Complete Workers\' Compensation billing with TPA
  • Prepare Leave Reports/Spreadsheets
  • Assist with all other tasks and projects as needed
Answer questions and provide explanations related to University policies and procedures, Union agreements, general benefits questions, FMLA, etc.

Assist employees with on-line human resources systems (e.g., attendance system, staff announcement system, employee self-service system, etc.); verify and review information for accuracy

Create and maintain files

This position typically requires an Associate\xe2\x80\x99s degree or higher plus 2 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

This position offers a flexible work arrangement that combines remote and on-campus work. Questions related to flexible work should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process.
