DescriptionBoulder County Housing Authority (BCHA) is seeking to hire a HVAC II. Facilities Maintenance Technician HVAC II is a journey-level classification. The BCHA Facilities Maintenance Technician II-HVAC works under the supervision of the Facilities HVAC supervisor and performs a variety of semi-skilled duties maintaining building systems for the Boulder County Housing low-income housing units, buildings, grounds, and facilitiesThis is a full-time, benefited position that will work Monday- Friday 7:30-4:00. This position will work out of 1288 Alaska Longmont CO. 80501. Visit for more information.Examples of DutiesTake ownership of properties, think proactively, and take initiative to improve BCHA HVAC equipmentProperly troubleshoot, and perform preventive maintenance and repair work on properties and units, building systems, and structures, including HVAC equipment, furnaces, boilers, water heaters, forced air heating systems, geothermal units, air conditioners, plumbing, and electrical systems.Take the lead on HVAC and water heater installs; perform installs to the highest quality standards; minimize callbacks and failed inspectionsComplete HVAC work orders efficiently and accurately as directed by HVAC supervisor; ensure work time is used appropriatelyOperate, maintain, and train others in the safe and proper use of appropriate hand tools, power tools, electrical test meters, and similar diagnostic toolsPerform routine maintenance on tools and equipment as needed, including scheduling equipment for preventive maintenanceParticipate in 24-Hour Emergency Maintenance System`Be on 24-hour call for seven days in a team rotation, typical rotation occurs every two months.Respond quickly and make dependable independent decisions for emergency maintenance requests for units and buildings.Plan work schedule to meet specified objectives and follow established procedures for tracking and record keeping, including keeping daily records of work performed and materials and equipment used on work orders and purchase ordersPreventive maintenance and safety inspections on all units, buildings, and related heating and electrical systems, furnace and boiler operation, and carbon monoxide levels in systems.Independently engage with residents and the public, including elderly, disabled, and other special populations, while consistently demonstrating strong communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills.Work collaboratively with the team for safe installations and learning experiencesTake proper safety precautions, anticipate unsafe circumstances, and act accordingly to prevent accidents; be responsible for the safety of self, others, materials, and equipmentWear proper PPE per BCHA and County policy, including but not limited to gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, Tyvek suites, knee pads, dust masks, respirators, and proper footwearCollaborate and communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth installation processes and adherence to safety proceduresRegular, predictable attendance is an essential function of this jobPerforms related work as requiredMay be reassigned in emergency situationsRequired QualificationsPLEASE NOTE: When completing your application describe all relevant education and experience, as applications are assessed based on the required qualifications listed. Boulder County is looking for well qualified candidates to fill our positions. Any combination of relevant education and experience is encouraged.   • Skill in the operation of a pickup truck as required by the position
  • Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods of time and in all kinds of weather
