Description of Work
HVAC Mechanic I
Broughton Hospital is currently recruiting for a HVAC Mechanic I to work in the hospital\'s Facility Engineering department. Facility Engineering provides services to both Broughton Hospital and the Western Regional Vocational Rehabilitation. The primary purpose of this position is the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC-R systems in accordance with department policies, procedures, and programs. This position will perform a full range of work duties associated with construction, maintenance, and repair of air condition systems and associated air handler, chilled water distribution, and control mechanisms. This worker may also maintain large scale refrigeration units used for the cold storage of food. This individual will also be involved in a comprehensive Preventive Maintenance program, which would include changing filters, lubrication bearings, checking and adjusting belts, and making visual inspections of all heating and cooling equipment quarterly.
The normal working schedule for this position is Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 4:00pm; however, flexibility is required to meet department, hospital, or training needs.
Must be able to work from a ladder, work with hands above head. Be able to stoop, crawl and carry 50lbs.
** This position is Mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather events.

Broughton Hospital operates 382 beds and is one of the three regional psychiatric hospitals with statutory responsibility for operating as part of the Division of State Operated Healthcare Facilities (DSOHF). With the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, we provide help and support to North Carolinians, and their families, experiencing mental illness. Our hospital serves the western thirty-seven (37) counties of North Carolina, as part of the state\'s system of care and treatment for persons with mental illness.
