In addition to overseeing the ICU Department, this incumbent will also be responsible for managing the Infection Control/Employee Health Program for the medical staff and the hospital. Responsible for maintaining knowledge and practice of Federal and State reporting guidelines, TJC standards and for assisting with implementations of the infection control plan.The successful incumbent will have the ability to assess a variety of complex situations and determine the most effective means to resolve situations. Leadership skills in decision making, problem solving, and interpersonal relations are involved in the daily contracts of working with department directors, physicians, staff, visitors and vendors. Is responsible to set the climate for cooperation between co-workers and shifts for a smooth-running operation. Requires judgment/action that could impact the patient\'s outcome.Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Knowledge of OSHA, and State of Nevada infection control regulations, including NHSN. Knowledge of TJC standards and implementation. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other departments, medical staff, hospital administration, outside agencies and professional organizations. Ability to utilize computer programs. Ability to formulate and collate statistics.Minimum Qualifications:Education: Bachelor\'s degree in related field or equivalent work experience required.Certifications: American Heart Association Certifications: X Basic Life Support (BLS) X Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days of hire. Certified Infection Control Certification within 3 months upon hire/transfer.Experience: Minimum 5 years of nursing experience within an acute care hospital.
