We are currently looking for a full-time Immunohematology Technician to work 3p-1:30a Tuesday through Friday, with occasional on-call coverage, at our Des Moines location. This laboratory reference position serves hospital patients across Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota. Testing includes basic blood banking and complex antibody identification. This position is eligible for a shift differential of $4 from 6p-6a.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Accepts, verifies, processes, and tests incoming samples according to established policies
• Performs and interprets various testing procedures, including immunohematology, on donor and patient blood products, repeating tests where appropriate
• Performs quality control, equipment maintenance and calibration as required
• Utilizes computer system to obtain necessary data and to record test results
• Participates in the ongoing monitoring for each testing process to identify errors or potential problems leading to errors and takes effective and preventive corrective actions when indicated
• Mentors and train other laboratory team members and students as required

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE CONSIDERED

• MT/MLS or MLT from American Society for Clinical Pathology or equivalent required
• Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in medical technology or chemical, physical, or biological science OR, Associate degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology, OR equivalent, required
• Must meet current CLIA or ABB requirements for testing personnel
