Duties
This position may be filled at either GG-12 or GG-13 grade level, please indicate the grade for which you want to be considered. Incumbent may be advanced non-competitively to the established target grade upon meeting developmental benchmarks, performance requirements, and other requirements, as applicable established for the career program or specifically for the incumbent.
As a INTELLIGENCE OPERATIONS SPECIALIST (CYBER) you will be responsible for the following duties:
Conducts defensive Counterintelligence (CI) Cyber activities as delineated in DoD Directive 5240-2 and DoD Instruction S-5240.23 and in accordance with DoD and DTRA published standards.
Conducts research and analysis on foreign intelligence threats related to cyberspace.
Identifies trends and conducts analysis on CI cyber threats and vulnerabilities to DTRA and DoD programs, facilities, and personnel worldwide.
Establishes and conducts regular liaison with members of law enforcement and intelligence communities to facilitate the exchange of cyber threat information and maintain contacts required to support the mission.
Represents DTRA and participates in intra- and inter-agency conferences and symposia.
Conducts cyber threat hunting activities on foreign threats employing tools and various datasets; including logging tools, network traffic analyzers, and multiple information systems logs.
Determines the CI involvement resulting from network intrusion events and coordinates with internal and external cyber and CI elements, routinely and as needed.
Works closely with cybersecurity entities within DTRA and its partners, such as Cyber Security Service Provider (CSSPs) teams, Information Assurance elements, and other cybersecurity groups to assess cyber-related incidents and threats for CI and foreign intelligence indicators.
Conducts threat awareness briefings on foreign intelligence threats related to cyberspace.
Extracts, interprets, and analyzes digital evidence from various information systems; including computers, mobile devices, and network assets, using forensically sound methodologies in support of operations and/or national-level investigative agencies.
Provides technical expertise and support to cases involving digital media, information, and network systems; and other cyber-related issues and incidents.

Telework Eligibility: This position is telework eligible, but is not a full time telework position. The incumbent will be required to report to the office on a routine basis.
If selected, the incumbent must obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance as indicated in job announcement.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET/SCI security clearance.
Must be a credentialed CI agent or successfully completed a CI credentialing course per DoD Directive S-5240.02 to obtain DTRA CI Emblem and Credentials; or be able to complete a CI credentialing course within two years of date of hire.
Must consent to and pass pre-employment drug testing and be subject to periodic random drug testing thereafter.
Valid Passport required.

Applicant must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, and will typically be demonstrated by working at, or immediately below the level of the job being advertised, for a year or more. The previous work experience must clearly demonstrate the application of the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position.
You must have specialized experience sufficient to demonstrate that you have acquired all the competencies necessary to perform at a level equivalent in difficulty, responsibility, and complexity to the next lower grade GS/GG-12 in the Federal service and are prepared to take on greater responsibility.
Generally, this would include one year or more of such specialized experience. Specialized experience for this position includes: * Experience conducting Counterintelligence (CI) activities or cybersecurity operations in support of defensive CI or cyber-related missions.
Experience with defensive cyber threat activities in support of cybersecurity operations, defensive measures to detect, respond, and protect information, information systems, and networks from foreign intelligence threats operating in cyberspace.
Experience with digital forensics methodologies, tools and techniques used in data recovery, and preservation of electronic evidence in support of CI activities.
You must have specialized experience sufficient to demonstrate that you have acquired all the competencies necessary to perform at a level equivalent in difficulty, responsibility, and complexity to the next lower grade GS/GG-11 in the Federal service and are prepared to take on greater responsibility.

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
