Duties


----------


In the absence of the Chief, serves fully in that capacity and, as Acting Chief, assumes total responsibility and authority for the accomplishment of assigned functions. Execute the Corps Regulatory Program within the Alaska District to meet the needs of management and assigned functional responsibilities. Implements, monitors and reports the progress of policies and procedures for effective management and execution of the program. Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short term priorities, and establishes schedules for completion of work. Supervise professional and technical employees and evaluates the performance of subordinates. Determine, plan and provide for both long-range and short-term training, including developmental training necessary for future workload.

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position requires you to submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report (OGE450) upon entry, and annually thereafter. In accordance with AR 690-11, this position has been designated as "Key" and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization as doing so would seriously impair the capability of the organization to function effectively. This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one-year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed. This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.

Specialized Experience:

One year of specialized experience which includes overseeing a regulatory program in the implementation of local and state regulatory policies relating to permit evaluation, permit compliance, enforcement activities, and jurisdiction. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).
