Position Overview:




Reporting to the Director of Community Troop Experience, the Job Readiness Manager & Instructor will lead and manage a comprehensive workforce development program for youth. This role will oversee program operations, provide job readiness instruction, and connect participants with employment and career exploration opportunities. The ideal candidate is an experienced mentor, facilitator, and program manager with a passion for youth development.


Program Management & Operations

Manage the day-to-day operations of the program, including scheduling, participant tracking, and resource allocation. Serve as the primary point of contact for participants, mentors, and community partners. Coordinate workshops, training sessions, and community events to enhance career readiness. Track and enter participant data into the DFSS data management system for reporting and compliance. Ensure all hires begin work as scheduled, meeting DFSS hiring performance metrics before the start date

Instruction & Career Readiness Training

Develop and lead job readiness workshops, covering resume writing, interview skills, workplace etiquette, financial literacy, and job search strategies. Guide participants in identifying career goals and creating personalized action plans. Provide instruction on essential employment skills, including professionalism, teamwork, and time management. Support participants with their Take Action Projects and career presentations.

Employment & Career Development Support

Support youth in obtaining necessary employment documents, such as State IDs and work permits. Organize job shadowing opportunities with professionals in participants' fields of interest. Find and coordinate Facilitators for career readiness workshops and specialized training. Develop partnerships with employers, training institutions, and community organizations to enhance job opportunities. Provide individualized career coaching and mentorship to support youth in their employment journey.

Qualifications & Skills



Experience in workforce development, youth services, or career coaching. Strong instructional and facilitation skills with the ability to engage and motivate youth. Can work in the city of Chicago (South & Westside) Proven ability to manage programs, track participant progress, and coordinate multiple initiatives. Knowledge of job readiness strategies, workforce trends, and career development. Ability to develop curriculum and deliver training sessions effectively. Excellent organizational, communication, and data management skills. Passion for mentoring and empowering young individuals in their career journeys.

Compensation:

$58,656



Note: This position is grant funded and post-grant employment may be a possibility, but is not guaranteed. Grant is anticipated to end approximately January 2026.
