JOB SUMMARY:

Positively impact the lives of youth in the care of the Department of Juvenile Justice through the collaborative creation and maintenance of a safe, therapeutic, and educational environment in facilities. Provide support, guidance, and structure for our detained youth by modeling, encouraging, and reinforcing pro-social behaviors to include patience, empathy, cooperation, professionalism, and respect. Directs subordinate supervisors and staff.

JOB DUTIES:

\xc2\xb7 Assumes responsibility for the custody, security, and care of youth through adherence to policies and standard operating procedures governing the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice.

\xc2\xb7 Provides staff oversight during youth transfers from one facility to another.

\xc2\xb7 Maintains order and discipline by intervening with youth through active supervision and controlling inappropriate youth behavior to maintain a safe and secure environment.

\xc2\xb7 Ensures the provision of direct support, guidance, and structure for detained youth with an emphasis on safety, personal conduct, care, and rehabilitation.

\xc2\xb7 Supervises assigned staff and ensures conformity with department policies and procedures.

\xc2\xb7 Manages and directs administrative and human resource activities of subordinate staff. Implements applicable emergency plans and procedures.

\xc2\xb7 Provides oversight to subordinate staff in handling of contraband, coordinating youth activities, and head count procedures.

\xc2\xb7 Ensures that laws, policies, rules, and regulations are adhered to for the safety and security of youth and staff.

\xc2\xb7 Supervises contraband searches and inspections, inventories, maintains physical control of logs, keys, tools, weapons, and related equipment.

\xc2\xb7 Maintains knowledge of, complies with, and enforces all facility policies, rules, procedures, and regulations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma/GED AND Two years of supervisory law enforcement experience OR One year of experience as a Juvenile Correctional Lieutenant (PSP224) or equivalent. Must possess and maintain State of Georgia P.O.S.T. Certification within the first six months of employment. Must have valid Driver License.

Military Salary Increase Incentive Amount:

\xc2\xb7 2.5% for one year of active-duty service

\xc2\xb7 5% for two years of active-duty service

\xc2\xb7 7.5% for three years of active-duty service

\xc2\xb7 10% for 4+ years of active-duty service
