What can you bring to our table?



JOB SUMMARY:



The Kitchen Assistant is responsible for three major components of the workflow: packaging, vegetable prep and maintenance of the dish room. As the Kitchen Assistant becomes proficient in these areas and there is time for further training, they will be tapped to help with production at the discretion of the Shift Leader. These tasks could include simple recipes, fryer work, portioning and finishing.



RESPONSIBILITIES:



Food Packaging/Stocking

Be skilled in packaging all foods:

accurately and efficiently.

Make sure of proper container use, tare, PLU, ratio of sizes and a neat appearance.

Ensure food quality bringing any questions to the attention of the Shift Leader.

Package all food using tools and practices to avoid unnecessary shrink.

Maintain clean and neat workspace, use best practices to prevent cross contamination.

Maintain accuracy of the information on the white board re:

items to be packaged.

Stock and face food in the proper location, properly rotated per the specs of the Shift Leader.

Pull any out of date or poor quality items and bring them to the Shift Leaders attention for proper shrinking.



Food Prep

Wash, prep, dry and store all vegetables to the specification of the Shift Leader.

Report any issues of poor quality or other questions to the Shift Leader.

Trim, tray and prep chicken for roasting and marinating.

Soak beans per the instructions of the Shift Leader.



Food Production

Assist cooks with production per the instructions and at the direction of the Shift Leader.

Temp, Cool and Store Soups per the Food Safety guidelines of the DE Food Code and ServeSafe.

Temp cooked meats thoroughly and properly following food safety guidelines.

Prepare Salad Dressings and bottle/package as instructed by the Shift Leader.



Dish room/Cleaning

Maintain kitchen workflow and order by running the ware washer, putting away clean dry dishes.

Empty recycling, trash and compost as needed.

Restock packaging station and maintain order and cleanliness of workstation.

Refill cleaning and sanitizing spray bottles



Safety and Customer Service

Ensure that all food safety codes are adhered to.

Field questions from front of house regarding production, consulting with Shift Leader or Manager as needed.

Respond to customer service issues on the floor with a positive professional manner. Seek out help from a Manager if you are uncertain of the answer to a customers question.



Work Environment

Uphold professional boundaries and a professional working environment.

Maintain positive and clear communication with co-workers, Shift Leader, Asst. Kitchen Manager and Kitchen Manager.

Contribute to communal responsibilities around dishes, including rinsing dirty dishes and helping to maintain dish room.

Contribute to cleaning the kitchen and all of its equipment.



OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

Attend department staff meetings and storewide meetings.

Perform other tasks assigned by Kitchen Manager and Assistant Kitchen Manager.

Answer and route phone calls, take and route messages as needed.

Participate in periodic inventory counts.



QUALIFICATIONS:



Experience in cooking for prepared foods deli, restaurant, or catering preferred but not required.

Familiarity with natural foods a plus.

Accuracy, attention to detail.

Ability to work with other people in close quarters.

Ability to stand for long periods and be able to wear a face mask for the extent of a shift.

Regular, predictable attendance.

Willingness and ability to learn and grow to meet the changing requirements of the job.

Ability to lift 50 lbs.

Willing to work a.m., p.m. and weekend shifts if necessary.
