LAND SURVEYORThis recruitment is open until the position is filled.First review of applications will occur on April 1, 2023.Hourly Salary Range:$32.21 - $43.16Department / Division:Engineering & Transportation / EngineeringJob Type:Full-Time RegularThis position is classified as safety sensitive.Schedule:Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.Job Number:RC#901784DESCRIPTIONThe Land Surveyor will perform a variety of technical field engineering and land survey work.Duties include, but are not limited to the following:Completes complex and difficult survey assignments such as street reconstructions, storm drain, sewer, water projects, and structure deformation monitoring.Delineates rights of way; conducts topographic surveys for design projects; and, establishes control monuments for property surveys, construction staking, and aerial mapping control.Takes accurate notes, records, and sketches of work performed and data secured to document the results of the survey effort.Communicates with the general public, other City employees, vendors, management, and contractors to answer questions, resolve problems, and coordinate work assignments.Instructs and trains subordinates in a field and office setting regarding the technical aspects of surveying.Calculates stake out positions and other survey locations.Responsible for maintaining the City\'s coordinate system and all adjustments and corrections to the system.Responsible for all measuring devices involved in land surveying discipline.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSWork Experience:Requires four (4) years of civil engineering experience, including two (2) years in construction surveying work.Candidates must have the minimum amount of work experience. Years of experience are based upon a full-time work schedule (2,080 hours per year). The sum of an applicant\'s full-time and/or part-time qualifying work experience must meet or exceed the stated minimum qualification. Education will not substitute for the required work experience; however, related unpaid and/or volunteer work experience may be used as qualifying work experience.Education:Requires the equivalent to an associate degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering, land survey or degree related to the core functions of this position.The term \xe2\x80\x9cequivalent\xe2\x80\x9d means that directly related work experience exceeding the required work experience will substitute in equal time increments for college-level education, for example: one year of additional directly related work experience will substitute for one year of college education (30 credit hours).Certification, Licenses, and/or Registrations:Possession of a valid driver\'s license.Possession of, or required to be obtain within six (6) months of hire, a Land Surveyor certification.ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTSApplicants considered for this job classification must pass the following:Criminal history background investigationPost offer/pre-employment drug screen.
