Position Summary
The Lead Cashier is a senior team member instrumental in training new hires and fostering a positive team culture. This role is responsible for merchandising products, maintaining an inviting store environment, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations in collaboration with the Garden Shop Supervisor. Strong communication, conflict resolution, and team-building skills are essential. As a mentor, the Lead Cashier encourages employees to learn and grow from both successes and mistakes. The Lead Cashier ensures that the department is organized, clean, and must be a skilled communicator and exemplify the Unifying Principles. This role reports to the Garden Shop Supervisor.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Delegate and complete assigned tasks alongside the Garden Shop Supervisor.
Foster a positive and growth-oriented work environment.
Train and mentor new hires under the guidance of the Garden Shop Supervisor, covering customer service, product knowledge, Counterpoint operations, and cash handling procedures.
Provide constructive feedback to all levels of Garden Shop employees.
Position Responsibilities
Oversee accurate and efficient point-of-sale transactions, including cash handling, and communicating register maintenance needs to Office Manager and Administrative Support Specialist as required.
Provide exceptional customer service by assisting with product selection, discussing promotions, and resolving complaints.
Support sales goals through upselling and team collaboration.
Assist the Garden Shop Supervisor in monitoring operations, improving processes, and resolving challenges.
Track and manage sales reports, cash receipts, and inventory to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
Unload, stock, and maintain merchandise, ensuring product quality and proper inventory levels.
Enforce security measures to minimize theft and fraud risks.
Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming store environment.
Collaborate with management to plan for seasonal demands, promotions, and inventory selections.
In conjunction with Garden Shop Manager and Garden Shop Supervisor, develop and implement merchandising strategies in alignment with company goals, including seasonal demands and promotional activities.
Work with the Garden Shop Supervisor to unload, process, and stock merchandize.
Order supplies.
Additional duties as assigned.

Weekend availability/flexibility required. May require overtime during busy season.
Bilingual a plus.
Desirable Education and Experience
Thorough knowledge of Counterpoint system or demonstrated ability to learn new systems and processes.
Strong customer service skills.
Experience in a leadership position or leading teams in a retail setting preferred.
Previous experience as a cashier or similar retail/customer service role.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout the retail space.
Communicating with customers for the majority of the shift.
Position will be both indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
Frequent use of a multi-line phone system.
Position may be exposed to frequent temperature fluctuations.
