What You\xe2\x80\x99ll Do:

The Lead Development Engineer will create and execute new designs and changes by ensuring that performance parameters are met while meeting quality targets. This role is multi-faceted, including design, engineering modeling, structural analysis, calculations, and process coordination and management. In this role, you will:

  • Lead and complete new product and change design projects utilizing DFMA (Design for Manufacturing and Assembly), and other mechanical engineering concepts and processes.
  • Conduct FEA (Finite Element Analysis), including model preparation, mesh determination, boundary conditions, FEA run, analysis, and report preparation.
  • Perform and present mechanical engineering calculations and analyses such bolted joint calculations, and other structural stress tests and calculations.
  • Apply and demonstrate engineering design-best-practices and value engineering during project development. Maintain a strong focus on quality, cost, and overall customer value.
  • Act as a key point of feedback for engineering processes and standards. Work with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineers, and suppliers to drive world class concurrent engineering results.
  • Demonstrate strong 3D modeling and software expertise.
  • Supervise supplier design and control of supplier interface and the co-ordination of interfaces with other engineering disciplines. Ensure procurement packages meet design criteria, standards, and specifications.
  • Travel up to 10% to assist in implementations and integrations.
What You\'ll Bring:
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, or related degree.
  • 6+ years of engineering experience in the Mechanical Engineering disciplines in a heavy manufacturing environment by employing DFMA (Design For Manufacturing and Assembly).
  • Strong FEA (Finite Element Analysis) experience.
  • New product design experience to include mechanical engineering experience in modeling, calculations, analysis, and process management.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong 3D modeling and engineering technology skills, examples: SolidWorks, Pro E, AutoCAD.
  • Strong problem-solving and continuous improvement skills with a background in 6-Sigma or another structured methodology to solve complex problems.
  • Great attention to detail and accuracy while thriving in a fast-paced and changing environment.
  • Highly motivated with strong project management capabilities such as being goal oriented while being able to identify high priority, critical path tasks.
  • Preference not required: heavy truck design experience.
