:Wood is currently recruiting for an experienced Piping Stress Engineer IV for the Katy, TX - Park Ten Office. Local candidates preferred please, as there is no relocation assistance or per diem offered. PE (Professional Engineer license) preferred.Authorization to work lawfully in the US without sponsorship from Wood is required.Responsibilities:

  • 10 (+) years experience performing stress analysis for offshore platforms
  • Conducts stress analysis, ensures that designs are workable, makes recommendations and develops alternative solutions with conclusions reviewed by higher levels
  • Creates datasheets, specifications and technical bid, etc. of existing technology and applications and ensures that assignments meet standards and performance requirements within area of expertise
  • Assists and/or checks the work of other engineers and/or less experienced engineers
  • Provides senior level technical interface between customer, engineering and sub-contractors to determine root-cause of problems and to develop effective solutions
  • Provides thorough investigation for project requirements including safety and environmental compliance issues and technical review of piping stress and material needs
  • Participates in developing deadlines, labor estimates projects and work to be done
  • Defines project engineering schedule. Develops project cost estimates
  • Performs stress analysis, prepares piping specifications and engineering specifications and ensures conformance to all Codes and procedures related to engineering functions, labor reporting and systems reporting
  • Consults with other departments on equipment designs, problems and questions
  • May travel occasionally to field sites to assist with product related problems or to obtain application data. Interfaces with equipment vendors
  • Prepares reports, correspondence, procedures, specifications and technical calculations. Prepares technical data and papers for sales personnel, customers and publications using good internal presentation and report writing skills
  • Flexible work schedule. May be required to assist in Vendor or project site visits
  • While performing the duties of this job, is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Is occasionally required to stand, walk and stoop, kneel, or crouch. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus
Qualifications:
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering required. PE (Professional Engineer license) preferred.
  • Alaska PE License is a plus.
  • Specialist knowledge of piping discipline and general knowledge of other disciplines
  • Solid understanding of performing stress analysis on complex piping systems
  • Can serve as a stress analysis specialist
  • Solid understanding of internal economic factors affecting assignment areas (costs, margins, profit impact of decisions)
  • Demonstrated ability to apply advanced laws, principles, theorems and mathematics or industry knowledge in the improvement and development of designs
  • Demonstrated ability to independently create functional and cost effective designs/processes that meet complex specification requirements
  • Manages multiple and conflicting priorities
  • Advanced computer skills with MS Office programs
  • Must be proficient in use of Database systems related to Engineering functions
  • Demonstrates good organization and project planning skills
  • Ability to complete work accurately and on time
  • Oral and written communication skills with good vocabulary, good grammar and the ability to independently compose routine written communications in the English language
  • Demonstrated skills in persuasion, negotiation, motivation and communication
  • Ability to prepare accurate, effective, complete and easily understood written communications and reports. Demonstrates strong internal presentation skills. Expected to communicate with clients
  • Ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily
  • Demonstrated proficiency in mentoring and project planning. Ability to mentor and manage others
  • Ability to maintain regular attendance as per work schedule agreed with manager (may require working an adjusted work schedule based on project assigned and work overtime if warranted)
  • Ability to comply with applicable laws and regulations, the Company\'s Code of Business Conduct and other Company policies and procedures
