The general purpose of a lead teacher includes: instructional leadership, curriculum development/implementation, mentoring and support, classroom management and teaching, liaison role, assessment and evaluation and parent and community engagement, and advocacy. The purpose of a lead teacher in a school is multifaceted, encompassing instructional leadership, curriculum development, teacher mentoring, and active involvement in the broader educational community. Through their efforts, lead teachers play a pivotal role in enhancing teaching and learning, supporting their colleagues, and contributing to the overall success and improvement of the school.Duties and responsibilities:Works with those to whom he/she reports to articulate and promote the school systemxe2x80x99s vision of learning and teachingMonitors and evaluates progress toward accomplishment of system goals and objectivesDevelops goals and objectives, programs and operations that are consistent with school system vision, mission and goalsCommunicates high expectations of students, staff and parents/guardiansCreates, identifies, encourages and supports innovative ideas that in turn support learning and teaching in the schoolsDevelops personal learning goals/plans, evaluates progress systematicallyMonitors and establishes school-wide student support planFollows an ongoing supervision plan for monitoring classroom instructionObserves and monitors instructional personnel as assignedHelps to implement the school-wide testing plan for school siteOversees the teacher support teamMonitors the established school-wide security plan for the continuous supervision and safety of studentsMaintains accurate and organized records for student disciplineFollows district policies when administering student disciplineInsures those supervised administer disciplinary actions according to established policiesDevelops a plan for insuring faculty and staff maintain appropriate and timely communication with families concerning disciplinary referrals and or actionsMonitors the discipline program at the school and maintains timely and appropriate communication between teachers and the administrationCommunicates and follows established procedures in the Mississippi Public School Accountability StandardsUses appropriate grammar and syntax - verbal and writtenCommunicates pertinent information from meetings, conferences, and other sources in a timely and accurate mannerProvides an opportunity for faculty and staff input and incorporate their recommendations into the decision-making process where appropriateUtilizes personnel to meet the needs of the schoolAdministers the finances and resources of the school with sound fiscal management and educational practicesAchieves maximum results for available resources and money spentProtects instructional timeUnderstands and utilizes the available technology of the schoolPlans for maximum effectiveness in all school areasOrganizes daily, monthly, and yearly schedules to facilitate learning and teaching in the schools, as directed by the PrincipalEmphasizes and relates the importance of the Mississippi student assessment system to students, faculty/staff, families and the communityAssists in the development of student intervention strategiesProposes changes in the curriculum and instructional program based upon evaluation of student achievement data and classroom observationsLeads and facilitates the instructional staff in ongoing and continuous analysis and planning for curriculum and instructional improvementContributes to the selection of effective staff to meet identified needs of the instructional programCommunicates school and organizational goals periodically through the school yearListens effectively to the ideas, grievances and complaints of parents and makes a reasonable effort to resolve such issuesStudies and follows district policies applicable to the operation of a school as established by the Board of EducationEvaluates program needs and helps to plan suitable professional development activitiesParticipates in activities that will enhance their counseling skills as as to promote the educational and social development of each studentMaintain and accept responsibility for any district owned fixed asset item assigned to employee and ensure appropriate use by following district policies for acceptable useUndergo periodic evaluations according to state and board policy proceduresMaintain confidentialityRegular, dependable, in person attendance is an essential function of this positionPerform such other and not specifically enumerated duties as may be requested by the Board of Education, superintendent, administrator, director or established by district policyQualifications:Education Level: Masterxe2x80x99s Degree in Education or related field preferredCertification: MS Department of Educationxe2x80x99s Administration Endorsement codeOther Requirements: Minimum five (5) years successful classroom teaching experience with proven track record of student growth and achievementTerms of Employment:
