Learning Specialist

The Learning Specialist who join our team has a passion for teaching and a desire to help students reach their goals academically, socially, and emotionally. In addition to academic support, Learning Specialists strengthen the underlying foundational and cognitive skills of sensory processing, executive functioning, memory, and language. Learning Specialists implement specific lesson plans using a variety of evidence-based curriculum and interventions following specific training and protocols, with a high degree of accountability.

Learning Specialist Expectations:

Follow positive reinforcement strategies that support learning and motivation

Demonstrate excellent personal reading, spelling, and comprehension skills

Confident using computer skills, Google Suite and proprietary software for note taking and reporting

Passionate about helping others reach their potential

Pay attention to detail and exhibit a strong work ethic

Flexible with changing schedules and able to quickly adapt and problem solve

Knowledgeable about current best practices in learning differences, including but not limited to dyslexia, dyscalculia, sensory integration and executive functioning

Learning Specialist Responsibilities:

Provide instruction in-person or online, based upon each student's learning needs

Implement learning plans set up by Director working as a team

Communicate with students, families and staff in a professional, respectful manner to provide a safe and positive learning environment

Follow protocol for note-taking and session logs to document student performance, data collection, and parent communication

Write progress summaries following Learning Center format and guidelines

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 - 20 per week
