Networks with clinic providers, provides nursing component in the provision of care to patients and provides medical case management from a nursing aspect to clinic patients. Serves as primary laboratory nurse, transmitting labs to on site lab. Serves as nurse for initial intakes working closely with linkage to care coordinator. Provides backup to clinic nurse and referral coordinator in their absence. Serves as primary mental health nurse, performing check-in and vitals for mental health patients. Assists during clinic with vaccines and injections as needed. Serves as clinic liaison for medical questions from area detention center regarding recently referred incarcerated persons.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of HIV Medication and treatments
Ability to work cooperatively with others of diverse education and cultural backgrounds
Ability to establish priorities, exercise discretion, maintain confidentiality and integrity in the performance of all duties
Ability to prioritize and work with multiple projects simultaneously in a busy clinic atmosphere
Ability to successfully meet established project deadlines
Ability to work as part of a professional team and to collaborate effectively with individuals within the University as well as with community partners
Required Education and/or Experience
Current and valid licensure to practice professional nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse through the Louisiana Board of Nursing
Three years of experience in the nursing field
