The Logistics Manager is responsible for managing logistics in the Wiregrass area for Townsend Building Supply in order to ensure on time and in full orders for our customers. This primarily involves scheduling deliveries for customers and intercompany transfers using our company truck fleet but also involves coordinating direct to jobsite deliveries from suppliers and store to store transfers. Responsible for, but not limited to the following:
All actions essential to ensure the efficient operation of the scheduling and delivery process.
Oversee the day-to-day workflow of the logistics department.
Efficient scheduling of customer deliveries while meeting capacity targets and supporting the company mission by utilizing industry specific dispatch and delivery software and GPS tracking software.
Coordinate warehouse functions to ensure on-time customer delivery.
Interact professionally with employees, customers, and vendors to communicate delivery schedules and ensure on time and in full delivery of customer orders.
Ensure that all information needed for deliveries is obtained and entered into the system.
Ensure all deliveries have proper paperwork before any truck leaves the yard.
When necessary, work with dispatch and drivers to modify daily routes to accommodate last minute changes and the needs of customers.
Investigate delivery discrepancies.
Scheduling and processing material returns.
Responsible for timely and accurate processing and maintenance of all paperwork.
Ensure that dispatch maintains contact with drivers throughout the day to communicate all necessary information.
Ensure that all employees are licensed/certified to operate vehicles and equipment and are in compliance with policies, procedures, rules, and DOT regulations as set forth by the Company.
Arrange for all necessary service and repair of trucks / vehicles assigned to your department.
Work with all levels within the company to continuously identify and implement ways to improve delivery efficiency.
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications of the Ideal Candidate Include But Are Not Limited To:
Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Computer Science, or related field preferred but not required.
At least 7 years of distribution and logistics experience with similar duties and responsibilities, preferably in the lumber and building materials industry.
Exceptional attention to detail.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong customer service skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work well with individuals at all levels within the company.
Highly organized with the tenacity to succeed in a constant high-pressure environment.
Ability to effectively build and maintain relationships with employees and customers.
Must pass background and drug screening.
