Maintenance Mechanic I (districtwide)
Job Description
Position Summary: Performs a variety of entry-level maintenance work in the building trades including grounds keeping, small equipment repair, carpentry, plumbing, locksmithing, and glazing. May assist with custodial-type work and equipment delivery as needed. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities.Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities. A typical way to obtain these would be:
- High School diploma.
- Valid Alaska drivers license required.
- Principles and practices of general trades such as painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, roofing, glazing, locksmithing and automotive repair.
- Blueprints and technical diagrams.
- Time and materials estimating techniques.
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Perform at the journey level in two or more of the general maintenance trades (actual journeymanxe2x80x99s card not required).
- Maintain effective working relationships with other people.
- Be available on call out for snow removal and emergency work.
