Description and FunctionsOpen Until FilledGENERAL DESCRIPTION:The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) is seeking a Maintenance Staff Technician II. This position provides direction, oversight, coordination, support, technical assistance, research, and guidance to the district maintenance operations, other WYDOT programs, and various state and local governmental agencies to achieve the overall mission of the Department of Transportation.This position offers:

  • Provides functional support, training, guidance, and problem resolution for Agile Assets modules including Road Maintenance, Facilities Maintenance, Telecom, Fleet, Resources, System, and Linear Asset Management modules.
  • Supports Environmental permit management.
  • Supports upkeep of sump testing database.
  • Provides support for over-width load coordination.
  • Assists with Special Event Permit program.
  • Manages various contracts and agreements.
  • Uses CADD Software to create and edit drawings.
  • Supports Maintenance Materials Inventory Catalog.
  • Supports Maintenance Section Reference Book update.
  • Supports Maintenance Manual update.
  • Assists with legal requests.
  • Initiates public contact for Maintenance Staff.
  • Manages Maintenance Staff property inventory.
  • Supports processing of PEG projects and Stockpile Mixing Reports while coordinating with Financial Services.
  • Works on Special Projects as assigned.
QualificationsPREFERENCES:Preference may be given to candidates with experience in Agile Assets.KNOWLEDGE:
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of maintenance and road construction operations.
  • Knowledge of asset management, accounting, and budgeting practices.
  • Knowledge of State, Local, and Federal policy and procedures.
  • Knowledge of laws, rules, and regulations
  • Knowledge of purchasing policies
  • Skills in computers; spreadsheet development, database design, word processing, and MicroStation
  • Ability to accept and multi-task various duties with little or no supervision
  • Ability to be self-motivated and resourceful to complete the task in a timely and professional manner
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education:Bachelor\'s Degree (typically in Transportation Occupational Groups)Experience:0-2 years of progressive work experience in (typically in Transportation Occupational Groups) with acquired knowledge at the level of a(n) Staff Technician IOREducation & Experience Substitution:3-5 years of progressive work experience in (typically in Transportation Occupational Groups) with acquired knowledge at the level of a(n) Staff Technician ICertificates, Licenses, Registrations:NoneNecessary Special RequirementsPHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Outdoor data collection and asset condition evaluation may be seasonally required.
  • Overnight travel may be occasionally required.
  • On occasion, stand for at least 15-minute periods, and walk at least 1 mile when in the field.

  • One year of service to WYDOT must be completed, failure to complete this requirement will forfeit the hiring incentive; funds will be recouped from final pay.
  • Internal candidates would be required to remain in the position for a minimum of one (1) year from their promotion date.
  • Employees would only be eligible for one (1) hiring bonus in a 12-month period.
  • If the employee elects to downgrade through an active recruitment and/or appointment during the twelve (12) month period, they would be required to pay the bonus back.
