Location Description: Michael Foods, Inc. located in Norwalk, Iowa is a southern suburb in the Des Moines, Iowa metropolitan area. We are known for knowing our neighbors and enjoying a great quality of life! Our location produces high quality precooked egg patties as well as various French Toast products. Responsibilities:POSITION SUMMARY:This position is responsible for the management, training, scheduling and development of maintenance personnel providing support to the Production/Processing areas.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assumes personal responsibility to insure safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and, incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks.
• Supervision of maintenance crew.
• Production support in the Production / Processing areas.
• Creates work orders and PMs.
• Responsible for installing new equipment.
• Troubleshoots problems with equipment.
• Provides a safe work environment for employees.
• Recognizes and takes steps to resolve operating problems in order to minimize their impact on the operations.
• Cooperates with all departments to assure a coordinated work relationship exists at all times.
• Keeps accurate and up-to-date records (I.E. timecards, downtime records, absentee records, etc.)
• Enforces company policies in a fair and consistent manner.
• Encourages suggestions from employees which will improve production, quality, safety and/or control costs of production.
• Keeps manager informed on operating and/or employee problems which may require their attention or knowledge.
• Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP\xe2\x80\x99s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained.
• Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.
• Responsible for Food Safety and Food Quality of MFI products.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• Two years of mechanical and electrical maintenance and supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

• Associate\xe2\x80\x99s degree (AA) or two-year technical certificate in Mechanics and Electronics or a related field
• Knowledge of basic mechanics, welding, electrical, fabrication, preventative maintenance, plant operations and government safety regulations.
• Able to supervise department personnel in a fair and consistent manner.
• Be able to recognize problem situations and take appropriate steps to resolve.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and in group situations. Ability to respond to questions from internal/external customers/vendors at all levels including management.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
