Summary Description

Manages the cardiovascular service line at assigned location to ensure quality and efficient patient testing. Responsible for overall operational management, personnel management, financial management, quality improvement initiatives, marketing promotion, business development and strategic planning of Cardiovascular Services. Ensures the development of department procedures/protocols and secures system approval as necessary. Approves policies and/or seeks other system, regional, clinical service approval as appropriate.

  • Oversees the development of functional processes. Participates in personnel actions such as hiring, terminations, disciplines, etc. Establishes programs as required, and coordinates the work of assigned nursing and/or technical and support personnel.
  • Ensures the timely completion of performance appraisals. Ensures that competency requirements are met for clinical personnel based on standards set forth by Patient Care Services..
  • Ensures patient care is rendered consistent with established standards, policies and procedures. Develops short to long-range goals and objectives and oversees the assessment of goal attainment.
  • Analyze data and create reports to identify process improvement opportunities. Collaborates with senior leadership and key service line physicians to identify improvement opportunities.
  • As requested, participates in the development, preparation sand monitoring of operating and capital budgets. May participate as a member of senior management team in the development of strategic plans for the operating unit. Identifies opportunities for organizational effectiveness that enhance overall performance, productivity, quality and resolution.
  • Monitors activities for and ensures compliance with laws, government regulations, JCAHO requirements and Tenet policies. Serves as a liaison for all survey and audit related activities. As directed, implements external and internal audit recommendations. Ensures hospital departments achieve objects for diversity of their suppliers.
Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

1. Bachelor of Science degree in related clinical, technical or administrative discipline, or the equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

2. Three to five years of progressively more responsible leadership and related technical experience. Two years of cardiovascular leadership experience is preferred.

Skills Required

1. Analytical ability to create solutions to difficult administrative, technical or human situations, to anticipate and resolve a broad range of issues and concerns on multiple, sometimes unrelated, topics, to determine the need for process development and refinement, to independently evaluate situations and outline ramifications of multiple solutions or options, to recommend goals for a function/area and understand when intervention in current work processes must occur to ensure successful delivery of service.

2. Communication and/or interpersonal skills for contact with internal and external customers/stakeholders to obtain and interpret a variety of information based on knowledge of departmental practices, DMC policies and programs and specific technical and regulatory knowledge. Discretion must be exercised in deciding what and how to communicate; conflict resolution skills must be exercised where policy issues are concerned both within the functional area and interdepartmentally. Diplomacy, tact and listening skills are required. Ability to read, interpret and write technical materials.

3. Project management skills including the ability to define program, project, or process objectives, identify stakeholders and their interests, plan steps, coordinate and allocate human, technological and fiscal resources to accomplish goals and objectives in a resourceful yet timely manner.

4. Leadership skills including demonstrated willingness to pursue leadership roles with increasing levels of accountability comfort with decision-making responsibilities, coaching, teaching and counseling skills, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others and to forge alliances and garner support. Ability to apply a team approach/team builder management style.

5. Comprehensive knowledge of cardiovascular health care practices and techniques.
