DESCRIPTION
Amazon is looking for a results-oriented individual to join the AWS Energy Team. In this role, you will support AWS\'s infrastructure expansion by leading a team of energy professions delivering large scale energy infrastructure projects with electric utilities and energy companies across multiple AWS regions in AMER East. The candidate must be able to manage a team delivering multiple high voltage transmission and substation builds across different geographies, and evaluate opportunities to optimize total cost of ownership by managing energy capital and operating expenses. The candidate will identify, develop and execute energy projects, programs, and initiatives to achieve these outcomes, working in partnership with internal and external stakeholders. The candidate will manage utility interactions, work with internal and external engineering, real estate and planning teams to evaluate data center sites and develop the electric infrastructure strategy to serve those sites, and lead the execution of these power infrastructure strategies, including but not limited to project managing the utility, EPC and/or Owners Engineer to meet AWS\' needs. The candidate will lead an integrated team to implement energy program requirements and deliver tangible reliability and cost saving results.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong energy background, a proven track record of delivering innovative energy projects, and experience managing high-impact face-pace teams. The candidate will have experience working with regulated electric utilities to develop, negotiation, contract and deliver medium and high voltage power infrastructure, and related tariffs and agreements. The right candidate will have a demonstrated ability to think strategically about the business, operations, and technical challenges, with the skill-set to drive tactical execution of project schedules, contracts, initiatives and team goals. By establishing and growing business and technical relationships, and managing the day-to-day interactions with these partners, you and your team will be responsible for ensuring energy requirements needed to support AWS\'s global infrastructure expansion are met.
Key job responsibilities
Function Specific Work Activities:
\xc2\xb7 Manage diverse team owning the end-to-end scope for Utilities, EPC and Owner\'s Engineers to deliver MV and HV power infrastructure on time, on budget and to specifications.
\xc2\xb7 Develop and execute energy strategies that leverage capital projects (utility grid connections, high voltage substations, energy storage, etc) to accelerate delivery of power capacity and optimize total cost of ownership.
\xc2\xb7 Manage capital budgets for electrical infrastructure and energy projects.
\xc2\xb7 Collaborate with the internal teams and regulated utilities on the implementation and management of energy and projects in a timely and accurate fashion.
\xc2\xb7 Work with utility regulators to develop policies and guidelines that enable broader AWS strategies and objectives.
\xc2\xb7 Identify and develop innovative cost savings projects and initiatives related to energy infrastructure and supply. Responsible for completing due diligence on in-market opportunities and developing those opportunities into cost savings for the business.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
\xc2\xb7 Bachelor\'s Degree (BA/BS) required in Engineering/Business or other technical field \xc2\xb7 7+ years of experience working in utility/energy industry in a commercial/business development or technical or infrastructure delivery role \xc2\xb7 2+ years of experience managing team of professionals working in utility/energy industry in a commercial/business development, technical or infrastructure delivery role \xc2\xb7 1+ years of experience developing and delivering Medium Voltage and High Voltage electric infrastructure projects in a planning or project management role \xc2\xb7 1+ years of experience analyzing energy projects and negotiating contracts with utilities and contractors \xc2\xb7 1+ years of experience collaborating with external stakeholders to deliver projects on-time and on-budget
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
\xc2\xb7 Master\'s Business Administration (MBA) or equivalent financial/business/commercial experience \xc2\xb7 Experience successfully negotiating utility connection agreement, energy infrastructure contracts, and/or new tariff rates in regulatory environments \xc2\xb7 The ability to both directly and as a team manager, manage multiple simultaneous projects requiring frequent communication, organization, time management, and problem solving skills \xc2\xb7 Experience planning, engineering, developing or constructing substations or other 34.5kV or greater energy infrastructure \xc2\xb7 Experience implementing innovative infrastructure and operational strategies within the energy sector, such as energy storage, demand response, fuel cells, etc \xc2\xb7 Experience working directly with public utility commissions and other energy regulators \xc2\xb7 Experience with IT infrastructure, data centers and cloud services \xc2\xb7 Strong Bias for Action with an ability to look around corners and deliver results for the business \xc2\xb7 Meets/exceeds Amazon\'s leadership principles requirements for this role \xc2\xb7 Meets/exceeds Amazon\'s functional/technical depth and complexity for this role

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $130,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $242,100/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
