About the Role:

Summary:

The Manager, Fleet Purchasing is responsible for the direction and oversight of the assigned fleet purchasing operations. The Manager administers all aspects of a best-practice operation of a large scale fleet and works very closely with multiple district locations and assists with loss control activities.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage day-to-day vendor relationships with equipment and vehicle manufacturers, equipment rental companies, and parts and outside service national accounts
  • Identify, evaluate, select and negotiate with vendors, maximizing quality of vehicles and equipment while controlling costs
  • Recommend and maintain vehicle specifications for commonly utilized equipment and vehicles
  • Track supplier performance and compliance with expectations or contractual terms
  • Perform periodic cost control analyses, monitor expenses, and participate in the budgeting process
  • Perform SOX compliant reporting and analysis for Fleet activities
  • Track power units and mileage for accounting, regulatory reporting, fuel efficiency, tax, and insurance underwriting
  • Serve in advisory role on technological resources
  • Oversee disposition of vehicles, gaining highest resale and salvage value
  • Track and communicate manufacturer recalls
  • Conduct on-site inspections and auditing
  • Lead, direct, and audit the work of assigned staff; act as a mentor
  • Coordinate employee performance reviews
  • Advise staff of company policy expectations
  • Regular and predictable attendance
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Essential functions of this position are to be performed in a Company-designated office or field location
  • Understand and comply with the Company\'s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics Policy and other industry-specific professional and ethical standards
Principal Skills:
  • Solid knowledge of automotive and construction equipment technology
  • Solid knowledge of state and federal regulatory requirements, including DOT, FMCSA, EPA, and OSHA
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Strong analytical skills that aid in solving problems in a positive and proactive manner
  • Working knowledge of basic accounting functions, including journal entries, accounts payable, and general ledger

About You:

Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in fleet management / administration
  • Minimum 5 years of recent and increasingly responsible supervisory and administrative experience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with vehicle specifications and vehicle ordering procedures
Preferred Education:
  • High school diploma or GED is required
  • Bachelor\'s Degree in business, vehicle/equipment technology or similar area is preferred; combination of education and experience considered in lieu of degree

Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary $83,000k - $103,000k / year
  • Commensurate with experience, paid weekly. Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. MYR Group reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
